"What? Oh. Greetings, Lord Megatron. This is Shockwave, your trusted Guardian of Cybertron. Evidence points to your current absence from the base; I am certain you are out performing a vital task that will ensure victory for the Decepticon cause. Though it is regrettable that I am once again required to converse through a recording mechanism rather than real time, I realize the importance of your busy schedule while on the alien planet "Earth," and will make due."
Sitting in a pose he ritualistically assumed without fail, The guardian somberly sat in front of his central communicator recounting the orn's news from Cybertron. He had no tolerance for even the slimmest margin of error in his methodology. The scientific rigor of his daily routines had been perfected to an art long ago, and now was barely the time to slip up. Megatron could once again look in upon him, after all, and the last thing Shockwave desired was for his Lord and Master to think lowly of him. Even if the same Lord and Master was regularly absent from his console at the times they agreed upon exchanging information.
Shockwave mentally shook himself at the minute scrutiny of Lord Megatron's behavior. Who was he to question his leader's conduct?
"Shockwave. SHOCKWAVE ANSWER ME," Megatron snapped. The guardian jumped in shock. He'd so thoroughly zoned out in his standardized reporting he completely failed to notice his leader's return.
"Megatron! Lord Megatron. I apologize. I do not know what came over me," babbled Shockwave, still not over his astonishment.
Megatron stared at him wordlessly for a moment. "You aren't glitching, are you?" he inquired suspiciously.
"N..no, Lord Megatron. I was simply lost in thought."
"While speaking?"
Shockwave awkwardly fidgeted. "I am rather used to the routine, my Lord. At times reporting does not require full processing power. I assure you it is perfectly in line with my model's schematics."
"I see," said Megatron. "If you ever find yourself in need of maintenance, I will send Hook. Do not permit yourself to fall into a state of disrepair, Shockwave. I have no trustable mechs on this pit-cursed mudball to send to take your place." The warlord made an unpleasant noise at the thought of his own unreliable troops. "I will contact you later to inform you of Earth activity, our resident traitor requires an immediate lesson in reliability," he sneered. Without giving Shockwave a chance to reply, he ended the communication line.
Shockwave sat stuck at his console for just a moment longer, again in surprise. It was inefficient on his part, but he couldn't help but bask in the rare compliment he just received. He knew Megatron trusted him alone to be Cybertron's guardian, but he'd gone so long without any acknowledgment he'd almost forgot what it was like to be appreciated. Even if the sentiment was portrayed in such a passive roundabout manner as was customary of his commander.
All the same, Shockwave was gratified, and vowed to never again question his Lord's lack of punctuality.
"Please leave your message, after the tone."
"This is Shockwave, Guardian of C---"
"Booop."
