Yesterday I said a final goodbye to my baby girl. It had been a while coming and she was getting extremely weak and thin over the past couple of months. She finally breathed her last yesterday afternoon as my parents stroked her to a long and restful sleep.
Anyone who knows me knows that I have an obsession with this little animal. She came to my family as an unexpected and special angel at a time when things were at their darkest for us and we were dealing with the grief of a bereavement. She has given us nothing but pure joy and love everyday for 17 years and I can't quite believe that she's gone.
It was heartbreaking watching her deteriorate and we could only try to keep her comfortable to her last. She had been unable to eat or sleep for weeks and I'm glad that she is finally at rest. I take comfort knowing she lived a long, happy and loved life. Still, I'm not quite sure how to handle this.
