Looks like I'll be getting a new (to me) road bike. I've wanted to do some long rides for several years and a road bike is really the best way to do it. A mountain bike with slicks works, but it's a lot more effort. Besides, I get to go faster on a road bike :D.
Without further ado, here it is:
I'm just waiting for my uncle to negotiate a price on it and I can pick it up this weekend. I guess that changes my plans for the next couple of weeks a bit, but that's okay. I'll have to replace the cassette (gears) on the back so it is more suited for climbing since right now it's geared towards racing. I'm not sure what my finances look like right now, but I'll make it fit somewhere.
I think my first ride this season will be the
Miller Lite Ride for the Arts 50-mile or 75-mile route. I've been wanting to do it for at least a decade. This particular ride is near and dear to me since some of the funds it generates go to the
Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra. I was a member for four years (two years in Philharmonia and two in Senior Symphony) and we got a lot of compliments. Many people thought we were a professional symphony before they saw how young we were. The ride is on June 6th, which gives me plenty of time to prepare.
