Wow. Watchmen was very well done. I don't think it could have been closer to the actual comic and still been an effective film. I was very impressed.
The ending change seemed to work very well, but the Squid was missed. They both work fine to me, and there is a tribute to the Squid in one of the scenes. I didn't like that some things felt lost in the last 40 minutes... the detective, Dreiberg's pre-existing alternate identities, small stuff like that. Manhattan's role in the ending was kind of rearranged too, plus the scene that happens in the book would have just been cool to see on screen. But I guess it makes sense to do what they did to make it a little more accessible.
But man, Rorschach was pretty much perfect, dialogue was sometimes combined into one scene, but it was all there. And Dan and Laurie and Jon and Blake were all pretty spot-on. And I loved the little touches like the goggle scene, and the bit with Big Figure, and the snow globe. Better than I thought it could be.
Definitely want to see it again.
.....sure was a lot of male nudity though.... lol
