SPOILER-FREE
So I lazily bought the seventh and final Harry Potter book on Saturday afternoon. I was actually at Barnes and Noble to pick up another book, written by Hugh Laurie, whose band I was seeing that night, but anyway. I didn't do the whole midnight party thing. I figured, why do the binge reading session when I can spread it out over the course of at least a few days?
Should've known better.
I opened it at 4PM on Sunday, read it sporadically on duty, and I've just finished (it's 3:30AM, Monday morning).
I was right about a lot of things, wrong about a few. And I totally bawled my eyes out, which is great because I never cry.
It's funny, I guess - I got really attached to some of the characters that she's created. Even as a child I had a vivid imagination of the written word; and having imagined some of these characters for years (and participated in the occasional Potter-themed discussion), to finally read the final word on their fates was emotionally vivifying.
Haha. How sad.
Anyway, I definitely want to re-read it again! ....But not right now. Friday night I got about 2 hours of sleep, and Saturday night I was quite enjoying a bottle of vodka with Fidela, Justin, and Rikin, and didn't sleep til 6:30AM, and I'm headed to lab in the morning, so it's sleeping time.
Greg, I'll call you again soon! Hopefully we'll be able to do something before Saturday!
