So, Resident Assistant (R.A.) training has gone well! I moved into my room last Tuesday. To my surprise and joy, I get an entire double room all to myself. Sweeeet. And I've got extra sheets for people who want to visit!

Training began Wednesday, June 20. On Wednesday and Thursday we trained from 9am-6pm, and on Friday we went from 8:30am-4pm, then had dinner, then hit it again from 8pm-11pm, then the twenty of us played fun get-to-know-each-other games until about 3am.

I do just want to say that the HAs are all pretty cool people. I like most of them (of course this doesn't mean they're competent, but it's not a job where competence is a huge concern) and some of them are just plain awesome! Anyway. There were about six of us playing the "get to know" games until we finally dispersed to sleep.

Saturday I woke up at 6:45am (WHY, BRAIN?), hit up the farmer's market with me mum, met people for brunch at 11am and then started working on posters at noon.

OHGOD POSTERS. I worked on the damn things for many many hours and it sucks because I am not artistic and now all my brain cells are ded. I also had my first backup duty shift at 5:30, which means that the two other backup HAs (Matt and Lindsey) and I must stick around the recreation room until we close it at 11pm. So there was nothing to do but make more posters so I sniffed more paint. WOOT. We did our first actual patrolling at 9pm. Each of us took a house (most are empty, but they can hold 24, 36, or 48 people) in each cluster of houses and basically checked around for broken stuff, open doors, etc., etc. It was fun and WE GOT TO USE WALKIE TALKIES. SCORE. And to cover our personal identities, Matt became "Tupac" for the evening. Heh.

Ehmmm I made this awesome brain poster just for my room, soon I'll take a photo ... actually I'll take a photo of my whole room and share it because it's pimp.

Residents move in tomorrow! Building 1028 will officially house 16 residents plus two HAs (Brandy and yours truly) for the first half of summer, and the second half will find it occupied by 32 residents and one HA (guess who).

I'm excited!

But that may be the paint talking.

OH GOD I'M TIRED
