here's a question

If you want to talk to somebody online but you always initiate the conversations should you perhaps back off and wait until the other person starts up a chat? Or, should you just talk when you want to talk and hope that the person would let you know if they don't want to deal with you anymore? What if while I'm waiting for them to IM me, they are waiting for me to IM them since I have set a precedent of starting the conversation? I seem to think that it's best to back off for a bit and wait for the other person to IM me. But I'm socially retarded and am neurotic about imposing myself on another person in any way or form so I might not have the clearest view on the matter. Shit, it feels really good to have somebody actually initiate a conversation with me. Perhaps I'll just start to IM more often and not let my lack of self-worth get to me. At the same time though, initiating a conversation and getting barely more than a "hey" and a "lol" isn't very rewarding and can even feel like rejection.
