Fandom: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles
Name: Syaoran (Clone, anime version only)
Age: 14
Physical Description of Character:
Not so tall but with a good height and youthful, Syaoran has brown determined eyes. His hair is brown as well, and is short and has soft, clean spikes. Throughout the series, his clothes changes often. This had to be done to be able to blend and adapt better to his surroundings. His default clothes are a pair of white/very light brown pants, has three kinds of black garments-his black sleeveless tight top, black short boots, and black gloves. He also has a hooded green cloak that goes beyond his knees. A notable accessory that is associated with him is his goggles.
Point in Canon: Season 2, Episode 29
Personality: Syaoran is very hardworking and dedicated, most especially to something that he has set his heart into. Throughout the most of his life, he has been studying under his adoptive father, Fujitaka, regarding archaeology, which he had taken an interest to when he was still small. He’s incredibly polite and uses keigo speech in almost every conversation he comes across with, especially if they are of higher rank, someone he respects, or if he just met them. Even if someone is uncomfortable with him using keigo or any form of polite speech, he still slips using it time to time. He can be a bit shy and clumsy time to time that causes him to pause or stutter in his speech, though it’s visible that he does have a brave heart underneath that soft face. That is one of the features which lead him to be easily liked or trusted by others. He’s immensely protective of people he treasures and it’s always reflected unto his actions even if not necessarily his words. He doesn’t care what happens to him as long as he is able to protect those he loves. He often hides his wounds or injuries as he doesn’t want others to worry about him. He does have a strong sense of duty and confidence that hold him, giving him the strength to be able to keep standing and able to do what he had decided to do, no matter what is thrown at him. He’s also seen to be very attentive in general. He doesn’t seem to have any other hobbies other than archaeology, though it’s proven throughout his journey that his knowledge of this field is at the expert area. He puts lessons that he picks up throughout his journeys to his heart, applying it during the right times.
History of the Character: Syaoran was first found by his adoptive father, Fujitaka, out on the streets alone when he was just very small. He had no memories of himself at all-he didn’t remember why he was there, who he was with, where he came from, and also his own name. He also didn’t have sight on his right eye. Fujitaka decided to adopt the boy and then named him Syaoran. Together, they travelled across various places excavating and studying ruins and ancient sites, as because Fujitaka was an archaeologist.
Because Syaoran doesn’t remember anything about himself or his past, he was blank and as if “soulless,” he doesn’t smile at all. But this changes when he was touched by the warmth of his first friend, Princess Sakura from Clow Country. He first meets the princess when he, together with his father, went to Clow Country during one of his father’s excavation works. Fujitaka had an audience with Clow Reed (the king of Clow Country that time) and during their conversation, they decided to introduce their children to one another. The princess learned that someone needed to show warmth towards Syaoran and that is what she showed him.
With the kind-hearted and energetic princess by his side, he eventually finally showed a smile. Her friendship with him becomes the most important thing in his life. He becomes stronger and develops a similarly kind and friendly attitude as the princess, but he still feels inferiorities to others. Because of this, he is often caught hiding his true feelings, especially sad ones or painful ones as he didn’t want others to worry about him or be troubled. The princess tells him that he shouldn’t hide such things or else the people who care for him will be even more worried or troubled. He saw this valuable lesson through at time when he was injured. That time, his father was treating him, and when he said “thank you” instead of apologizing for it, his father was relieved and embraced him.
Because of his development had he managed to open his eyes to the world a little, and he had taken an interest in his father’s work. Noticing this, Fujitaka asked him if he was interested, and with the answer being yes, his father took him under his wing. Syaoran was studious and dedicated-this bore fruit later on. Sadly, his father had passed away years later. Though regardless of how sad this thought was, Syaoran explains that his father was satisfied and happy, and that “he died with a smile on his face.” He continued to do his father’s work even after Fujitaka’s death.
Years later, when Syaoran is 14, he came back from his usual excavation and was greeted home by the princess. They shared their moments and even went shopping together on that day to resupply for Syaoran’s excavation. But after a heart-warming day-during his work at the ruins near Clow Country, he suddenly noticed the princess out here by herself. He asked her why she was here, but she didn’t answer him. Instead, she suddenly had opened the floor of the ruins. Surprised at this, he called out to her, but only to see a bursting image of bright wings flash before his eyes. The princess descended the floor and then started to sink to a wall. He called out to her again, but again without an answer, he went into action. He made his way towards the princess and made a leap to reach out to her.
Upon his fingers touching her, the princess’ wings suddenly breaks into the air and spreads-the feathers disappearing. Syaoran checks her condition and realizes she was getting colder. He hurriedly made his way out only to see the town in chaos. Majesty Touya, Princess Sakura’s older brother and the current king of Clow Country, is fighting with ebony soldiers. Touya tells High Priest Yukito to check the princess’ condition and that is where they learn that the princess has lost her memories and is going to die. Devastated, Syaoran pleads Yukito for a way to save her. This leads him to be sent to the dimension witch, Yuko. Touya tells Syaoran that he’ll leave the princess to him before he was sent to Yuko.
Faced to Yuko, apparently not alone, as two others arrive at the same time as him (Wizard Fay and Swordsman Kurogane), he learned later that there are no coincidences but instead for a reason. On his turn, Syaoran asked Yuko to save Sakura. In order for that to happen, he must collect all of her feathers that had been scattered to different worlds and dimensions. These worlds are completely different from one another and they may even end up at the most chaotic periods, she as warned. Syaoran said he was prepared to face anything to do what he has decided. With all of them accepting the terms, they had come to pay for the price. Yuko had taken the most important possession those three had from them to grant them the access to travel to other dimensions. In Syaoran’s case, it was the very relationship that he had with the princess. Even if he manages to collect all of her feathers, she will never remember him.
Despite this heart-wrenching price, he accepts it just to be able to save the princess, and gains the power to cross dimensions along with Fay and Kurogane through Mokona.
Mokona is a creature with many abilities but the notable ones are providing them the means of teleporting to different worlds and communication between each other as well as to Yuko. Upon finishing their business with Yuko, they were sent away to a new world.
They first landed in the modern world of Hansin Republic. Their timing wasn't the best as they apparently landed right in the middle of the street where two street gangs were about to clash against each other. In this world, everyone is born with a Kudan, a form of spirit energy that fights alongside its master and varies forms depending on the master as well. The strength of the user depends on the strength of the Kudan. Before landing in this world, Syaoran had encountered a mysterious fire spirit in form of a wolf. Choosing Syaoran as its master, it has become his Kudan, which is later revealed to be a top rank. Right before the fight between the gangs started, the group had noticed a feather of Sakura’s that was stuck unto Syaoran’s cape-this feather later resulted unto giving consciousness to the princess. After Syaoran had taken care of the situation that time, he had quickly become the center of attention between the two gangs because of his shining strength. Syaoran had shown a great deal of determination because of his will to complete what he must do. And through getting caught up and solving the issues of the gangs with him as well as Sakura’s awakening, he managed to obtain two feathers for the princess. In Hanshin Republic had they first realized about one of the things that Yuko had told them-that there are people around that are the same but different at the same time.
After Syaoran had managed to give back a feather of the princess, they had moved on to the next world, which is Koryo Country. Once again, they weren’t the luckiest in timing as they were confronted by the son of the current lord and his men upon their arrival. Syaoran made a quick move to protect the princess as he kicked off the lord’s son right before he does anything further to Sakura since he made a move towards her. Just before things turned chaotic, the party of the lord’s son was dismissed by the appearance of a young girl named Chun Hyang, who turns out to be the daughter of a powerful hijutsu user that protected the country half a year ago before she had died doing so. Mistaking their party as Miteshu (government agents that secretly investigate kingdoms regarding their good or bad actions), Chun Hyang had taken them to her house. The lord’s son had reported Syaoran’s party to their lord for their suspicious appearance and they have been constantly watched since then. This world was oppressed by this lord ever since he had gained a feather because it gave him overwhelming power. It was at first troubling them how to attack the castle due to his power, but they eventually were victorious with the aid of Yuko and even Chun Hyang’s mother who possessed Sakura at one point after she had spoken to the transformed townsfolk that were deformed due to staying at another dimension for so long. At one part, the lord tried to trick Syaoran by using his hijutsu to show him an illusion of Chun Hyang and Sakura as his hostages, but “Sakura” had called him, “Syaoran,” which he realized will never be because the princess had forgotten him and only calls him “Syaoran-kun,” now-this failed and Syaoran directly attacked the lord. This strike from Syaoran keyed the way for Chun Hyang to use her mirror hijutsu that she received from her mother that freed the townsfolk from the mind control the lord had set on them. With the lord defeated, Syaoran manages to give Sakura another feather back.
The next world is Fog Country, a place that didn’t seem to have humans living in it. Fog Country has a majestic lake and forest, this world is full of mysterious energy. Mokona tells the group that a strong energy is coming from the lake itself. Syaoran dives inside to search for the source of the strong energy, hoping it was a feather. It turns out later that there was no feather in this world, but it seems they didn’t regret going here for the experience. Syaoran remembers his father’s, Fujitaka’s words, about the happiness one can receive upon the thought of “there is always something waiting to be discovered.”
The group moves on to the Jade World, a cold world surrounded by snow. In this world, there is an ancient legend from 300 years ago about a princess who received a mysterious feather from a raven and later on caused children to disappear. It seemed at first that the princess was the cause of a curse. But after discovering the truth because of Syaoran’s party’s investigations, they were able to realize that everything that was happening in town was the doing of Dr. Kyle, the very person who assisted them when they stayed here. He was using hypnosis to the children to lead them towards the castle in the legend, because he wanted to get a hold of the feather’s powers. Because of the fact that he knew details of Sakura’s feathers when no one told him about it, it was the greatest hint that made the group realize Dr. Kyle is the suspect behind the recent disappearance of the children. But this also left them with a big question, “Who told Dr. Kyle?” Throughout this case, the princess from the legend, Princess Emeraude, had shown herself to Sakura in from of her spirit and assisted her greatly, giving her the feather back with the aid of the children from the town, warning her of danger, and leading Sakura to escape the castle. Princess Emeraude also warned them that they were being watched, right as she was ascending to heaven when everything was done, which had given another big question for the group, “Who is watching us?”
In Jade World, Syaoran displayed how skilful and witty he can be even outside of battles. With credit to his father, Fujitaka, he applied much of the things he learned from his father in their situations quickly and perfectly. When they were first investigated by the townspeople, he tells them that they were here to write a book, which caught the interest of the people but most especially Dr. Kyle, who decided to take them in. Syaoran was also the one who gathered up most of the information that they used to prove against Dr. Kyle and given Mr. Grosum an answer that made him trust Syaoran completely when he was searching his house. These words were the reason for his actions, “I am not suspecting you. I just want to find out the truth. For that, I must not leave out even the smallest detail or fact.”
The next world is Storm Country, the group lands right in the middle of a fighting ring and realizes there was a tournament going on. Mokona tells them that there is a mysterious power coming out from a small chest that was the prize for who will be the victor of the tournament. Syaoran, Kurogane, and Fay all sign up. Syaoran eventually wins and was later challenged by Keefer for the sacred object. During their fight, Syaoran saw Keefer’s strong eyes. He stops fighting Keefer and gives the item to him. Syaoran either does it as a silent way to tell him that Keefer has proven himself deserving or he had seen himself to be just like Keefer, because he wanted the sacred item to save his beloved, just like what Syaoran is doing for Sakura. Fortunately for them, the sacred item from the tournament wasn’t really a feather.
They move on to the next world, which was the Outo Country. Here, Syaoran and Kurogane become Oni Hunters while Fay ran a cafe called Cat’s Eyes Cafe with Sakura’s and Mokona’s help to earn for their money for this world. A side note is, this is when all four had received their new nicknames/symbols which are often used for humorous touches even outside of Outo thanks to Fay during the registration. Their names are the following: Big Puppy (Kurogane), Little Puppy (Syaoran), Big Kitty (Fay), and Little Kitty (Sakura). Lately, the country of Outo has been experiencing strange changes. Specifically, the changes of the movements of the Oni have been different. This was said to be caused by a new oni that had appeared in the country. Syaoran and Kurogane work together to find out more about this oni. During their search for information, Syaoran was faced with a critical problem later on when their cafe was attacked by a group of oni. There are oni that can only be defeated with a weapon. Syaoran asks Kurogane to teach him how to use the sword. This caused a majestic change in Syaoran’s fighting skills. Kurogane also helped him develop his balance because his blind right eye hinders his full potential in fighting as Syaoran relies on his left eye’s sight too much. When they went down the weapon shop, Syaoran receives Hien (Scarlet Flame) sword and Kurogane gains the Souhi (Blue Ice) sword.
During their stay in Outo, Sakura decided to ask Syaoran something important. She asked him why he is always risking everything for her and why he goes so far just to get her memories back. She realizes that he could’ve been someone very important to her in the past and asks Syaoran about it. But before anything ever was told or remembered, a shocking feeling came to her and rid of her thoughts about Syaoran, leaving both in a deafening silence. Syaoran promises that he’ll continue to find her memories, even if he wasn’t a part of them. Kurogane and Fay quietly listened from the background.
One night, Syaoran encounters an unexpected personality when he was suddenly faced with Seishirou, the person who had taught him how to fight when he was still small. It seems that Seishirou gained the ability to travel dimensions because he had given up his right eye to Yuko, though he has a limit into using it. Seishirou also apparently has one of Sakura’s feathers and was the cause for the sudden changes in this world. Later on, Syaoran fights with him a first time but is killed, only to wake up to reality after finding himself inside an egg-shaped pod and is even greeted by Fay, who supposedly had been killed by Seishirou earlier on.
It turns out that Outo Country was just a game in an amusement park and everything in it was virtual reality inside of Edonis World. Their memories of entering the pods were cleared when they first entered Outo but they eventually returned to them after their awakening. They encounter Seishirou again who is materializing the virtual images from Outo, resulting in even the oni turning real-this was left to be a threat in Edonis. It is revealed that he did everything to be able to meet with the rank 1 oni which was said to be able to give eternal life just like the vampires that he was after, but it was a mistake on his part because it wasn’t as he thought it was. Syaoran eventually get to him but Seishirou tells him that he won’t be able to beat him in this current condition. Syaoran answers firmly that he has decided to get the feathers back. But before a real fight can ensue, Seishirou has left for the next world.
After cleaning up the remaining oni that was left scattered in Edonis, they travel to the next world, Sharastra Country. Syaoran shortly collapses in the middle of walking due to his exhaustion. When he had awakened later in the evening, he realizes that their party was taken in by an elderly woman. She tells the party about the floating temple outside of their village. Some time ago, a god that was inside of that temple spoke to them and said that the first one who will go into the temple will have any wish granted. Many have fought each other and many have died trying. Time passed and because of that tragedy, no one wanted to go near the temple again. Syaoran’s party decided to investigate, but they are immediately greeted by ebony soldiers as they stepped near it. Syaoran recognizes them as the ones from Clow Country. They fought all the way through. Syaoran and Sakura eventually make it and Sakura made her wish bring back everyone in the village back to life. Sakura also receives a feather back.
The Piffle World is the next world they face. Piffle World is a world more advanced than Hanshin Republic, with buildings high up the sky and cars that can fly. The group gets involved with a race that has the feather as first prize. The race was called Dragonfly Race and was hosted by the Piffle Princess Company which was owned by Tomoyo. They get involved with a conspiracy regarding the race and wondered who was behind it. They find out later that it was planned all along by Tomoyo and helping hands, because they wanted to give the feather back to Sakura and set the race up. Tomoyo knew all these details because the Princess Tomoyo had told her in a dream, much to Kurogane’s surprise. But there were more people that were doing their own tricks that was not included in the strings Tomoyo and the others were doing.
In one of the violent attacks, Syaoran manages to save Ryuuoh, one of the participants in the race that had quickly gotten close to him because he had previously met the “other” Ryuuoh in Outo. Ryuuoh’s car went out of control because it got hit by one of the traps. Syaoran saves him by throwing his own car to prevent Ryuuoh from having a terrible crash. On a search to find the one behind the violent attacks, Syaoran and Ryuuoh take off together using a tracking device that Syaoran asked from Ryuuoh before. They find that source that was inside the Piffle Princess Company itself.
When they find the man controlling the traps, the man quickly sets a turret to hold the two back as he prepared a cannon that would shoot Sakura during the race. Syaoran and Ryuuoh get behind it and came up with a plan. With their strong team work and trust for each other, they were easily able to overcome this. As they stopped the man disrupting it just in time, Sakura was saved and was able to win the race with her own abilities. Though, not everything was cleared. The last suspect in this event finally showed himself up during the awarding event after he had stolen the feather from Sakura. The man was known to be Dr. Kyle, the very same one from Jade World. But thanks to Mokona taking the feather back before anything happened, Dr. Kyle wasn’t able to get hold of a feather once again and flees to a portal. Overjoyed by their success and their time here because of everyone that helped them and the overall experience from the challenging race, the group happily departs towards the next world.
At least, not for Syaoran... who ends up in Salkia Island instead!

[[OOC: Here, Syaoran is looking at the mysterious device (L337Pod) he suddenly has. He doesn’t know where it came from or what it really does, but due to curiosity’s sake, he checks it out. He accidentally clicked on the voice program without knowing.]]
... It seems like I was separated from the others... I have to find them.
But... this strange thing... What is this? I don’t remember having this with me...
-Ah! I think I remember something like this in the Piffle World. Eeh... Did I...
... accidentally pocket it without knowing...?!
...
........
I... guess there’s no point of returning it now that I seem to be in a different world. I should just pocket it again in case I ever go back to Piffle World someday.
I should start looking around now. Hopefully, I would be able to find Sakura-hime and the others, too.

Syaoran lied unconsciously. His breathing was slow but balanced, there was a sign he was already awakening. A minute has passed, and his first movement was finally made. His index finger twitched once, followed by a small sound of his voice.
“Hn...”
His eyes opened little by little, his sight was still blurry. He held his position for a while longer before he suddenly jolted at the realization that he passed out. Sitting up, he focused his eyes, and then glanced around his so-far serene surroundings.
A forest...
“... Where am I? Oh-“ he said, breaking his own voice, then looked down.
He felt something odd inside of his pocket. He didn’t remember bringing anything of that certain weight, so he slid his hand inside, only to discover this mysterious gadget. He watched it curiously for a while. Little did he know that when he slid it out, he had already accidentally clicked on the voice transmission program.
“... It seems like I was separated from the others... I have to find them,” he said as he continued staring down the object, “But... this strange thing... What is this? I don’t remember having this with me...”
He took a small pause to try to think, but that’s when it hit him.
“-Ah! I think I remember something like this in the Piffle World. Eeh... Did I...”
Yet another faint pause came, his eyes blinked twice, then his lips moved in a panicked motion.
“... accidentally pocket it without knowing...?!”
Syaoran thought it was kind of ridiculous of him to pocket something without realizing it, but he couldn’t think of any other possibility on why such a strange object would be deep inside of his pocket. Though, he knew this wasn’t the main problem right now.
“I... guess there’s no point of returning it now that I seem to be in a different world. I should just pocket it again in case I ever go back to Piffle World someday.”
He smiled to himself, trying to be enthusiastic and strong, “I should start looking around now. Hopefully, I would be able to find Sakura-hime and the others, too.”
