My brother sure knows how to break the ice at parties.
My dad and brother came in tonight, we went to dinner, and Dad finally came clean about his new girlfriend that I've known about since January:
Aaron: Did dad show you the pictures of Toby?
Sarah: Yes, he did.
Aaron: Did he show you the pictures with Lyn?
Dad: (evil glance toward Aaron)
Aaron: (Tweaking) I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! I DIDN'T MEAN TO! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! I'M SORRY!
Sarah: (awkward shifting)
Dad: (under breath) it's fine Aaron.
Sarah: Toby looks like he's doing well.
Aaron: Dad? Dad I'm sorry. Dad it was a mistake. Dad I didn't mean to. I'm sorry. Dad? Dad? It was an accident. I'm sorry. Dad? (so on so forth)
Sarah: (in tweaker panic moment) Dad!
Dad: It's okay, I'm going to tell you about it tonight anyway.
Sarah: I'm pretty sure I already know.
I then proceeded to tell Dad how I stumbled across the text message and he was kind of embarrassed and panicky about that, but I said it was fine and I had time to come to terms with things. He then proceeded to tell me her life story which I could have done without. So I guess I'm meeting my dad's girlfriend over the summer. And it turns out it was the next door neighbor at the beach with the kid. I'm not thrilled, but I'm not upset.
