The Scat Rap

Starts with an S and ends with a T
Comes out of you and it comes out of me
I know what you’re thinking but don’t call it that
Let’s be scientific and call it scat

If you’re walking through the woods and your nose goes “eeeew”
You know some critter’s scat’s near you
It may seem gross, but that’s OK
They don’t have toilets to flush it away

Now don’t run screaming and lose your lunch
Break it up in pieces, you can learn a bunch
If you want to find out what the animals eat
Take a good look at what they excrete

Well, I actually learned a lot of songs today. And games and goofy skits and all kinds of silly things. If you had asked me a year ago what I would be learning in graduate school I would not have said "oh, songs I sang as a kid at the Outdoor Lab."

I am not complaning, mind you. I am just greatly amused.

Today did not feel as stressful as last week. Last week was interesting and I was nearly vibrating with the anticipation of all the cool stuff. But I was also getting incredibly strung out and drained from it all. Today was tiring but mostly physically, not emotionally, not in a stressful kinda way. I'm not sure entirely why. I have two hypotheses. First, that a weekend hanging out with friends who I could be myself with really helped. Second, that today we spent the entire time outdoors doing actual activities and such instead of going over logistics and rules and paperwork indoors.

I'm trying to stay positive and go with the good mood.

So, yay for going out and playing and nature! :) And I finally remembered, after all these years, what the heck sedimentary and metamorphic rocks are. Go me!

We also got to Fox Walk today! eee! :) It's cool stuff, lets you be sneaky. I realized while I was doing it today (in shoes) that it's basically the way I walk barefoot anyhow. I remember learning Fox Walking for the first time at the Outdoor Lab years ago and not really Getting It. Today it comes, well, naturally.

In a week the children invade. I'm still terrified, but also goofily giddy.

songs, barefoot, nature, gradschool
