I completely dig the white stripes. The whole simplistic approach, with the single guitar and voice...perfection. Like buddhaism almost. It fits well with the basic white and black and then there's this agressive side with the red and crazy guitarity. Then they have this fusion of punk and blues as a base, like the whole progressive rock thing. Fantastic, man. And this brilliant feedback... positively hendrixian, vaguely psychedelic. Things to appreciate.
Had a Hunter S. Thompson moment today, running out of church stoned with this devil wind, thinking in a distinctly thompson-esque voice, "A hurricane, man! The storm of the century here; running in a parking lot, flat, nowhere to protect myself. Coloreds on Happy Days, now this." Indeed, there were "coloreds" on Happy Days. It was an anti-prejudice episode in fact, though the seventies idea of anti-prejudice still meant calling them coloreds and they had to get another "negro" for the black character to date because the white girls refuse him, which everyone else seemed to see as normal and right. It seems so rude now, but that's probably the way my parents were raised to treat them. Times they are a changin (yes jesus clubs me).
