I’ve always been drawn to painting pieces that have elements of Celtic/ Arthurian mythology. Standing stones, beautiful women, haunting landscapes are some of my favourite subjects to paint. “Fairy in the forest” is a large watercolour painting done over quite a while. I’ve taken off a month or two from commissions because basically the only personal work I’ve done for a year has been sketches for sketchfest, and my health has been pretty bad for the past couple of years. So I had so much fun on Purple, I decided to use the same technique again, this time for the topic “Lace, feathers, leather and fur”. Again, 1 hour in Photoshop. This piece was all about the costume. I was influenced by some of the great Asian game art, and I love having the chance to explore outside standard medieval costumes.

I slipped into sketchfest on Sunday morning. Saturday was spent working on some commissions and chores. I’ll be going back and doing some more business stuff this afternoon as I have contracts and emails to work through, as well as more painting, but I wanted to get in at least one piece for sketchfest.
