Some stuff I've worked on. The occasional hand tremor makes drawing sometimes interesting (I can live with this, better than the nauseous zombie I've been for what felt like the last 2 years).

This was a quick job I did for a C. A. Szarek’s “The King’s Riders” book. The map was drawn by Matthew Bryant, I just added the texture and colour in Photoshop. Work like this makes a change for me, and feels a bit like ‘paint by numbers’ or ‘colouring in’.

Copy + Cut from blog
This is a painting I started out in Sketchfest, and for once turned into a finished painting. I was trialling new paper and wanted to have a crack at gilding. A Nixie is kind of like a mermaid, being a female water spirit, though she tends to be linked with springs and lakes rather than the ocean. They also can have wings or a serpent tail. I kind of leave it up to your imagination

Nixie base watercolour sketch. Done in the 1 hour sketchfest time limit

Step 2. About another hour working to finish the watercolour.

Sold: Finished painting, “Gilt Nixie” with imitation gold leaf

This is my first attempt at gilding. The next one I hope to try some silver leaf on!
