i love trader joe's. i walked out of there with enough in the way of staple foods (sandwich makings, milk, cereal, etc.) to feed me for a couple weeks (well, i might have to get milk in a week) for under $40. awesome. a couple things there are more expensive, but the overall, proportionately speaking, most of it was cheaper. so it works out. and i'm not panicking at the thought of having no easily-prepared food in the house. i was disappointed, though -- not only did they not have my favorite cinnamon bran scones, but they don't seem to have any mixes, either. (you'd think they'd at least carry exotic mixes like scones and muffins. for some value of "exotic".) ah, well, muffin mix is easily procured at giant, and dead cheap.
the last time i went grocery shopping i rather inexplicably switched to single-ply toilet paper, after a lifetime of 2-ply. (well, not completely inexplicably -- it's much cheaper overall, and i'm discovering it lasts a hell of a lot longer. but it was a pretty random choice on my part.) (i regret nothing!)
am completely bloody wiped again tonight. not surprising, given the dearth of sleep last night. am lazily considering scrubbing out the tub and taking a bath. (taking a bath without scrubbing the tub is not an option; i use oily salt scrubs far too often for that.) a bath could be very nice. but first my stomach needs to settle down -- i'd forgotten that pistachios tend to, ah, set me off. i'll leave the rest to your fertile imaginations.
all in all, feeling tired but rather content. i did good today. got up early, stayed up, got to work in plenty of time to work a 5-hour day and still leave a little earlier than usual and do my grocery shopping before the evening rush. i'd like to keep getting up by 9 or so, especially for the next couple weeks (that whole working longer days to make up for soon-to-be-lost time thing), but in general as well. i do much better with more daylight, and if i get up that early i can a) choose to work a longer day should i so desire, and b) have the opportunity to get some chores done in the daylight, heaven forfend. also, i flatly refuse to drink strongly caffeinated beverages after about 1 or 2 pm unless i'm desperate (working on less than 4 hours of sleep, say), which means i'm also less productive on days when i get up way late. and i have a lot of tasty caffeinated beverage possibilities that i could be using up.
which reminds me, i need to go put together a packet of herbal and decaf teas for work before i forget. there've been plenty of times lately when i've wanted something more than water, but all i have at the office right now are caffeinated teas. must remedy.
