(no subject)
Monkeywatch today was Very Exciting! They spent a lot of time in the trees up by the path, and then just as we thought they were settling in for the night, three of them (Eduardo, Moe, and Mara) decided to come up and run along the fence a ways. We actually had to do crowd control for the first time on our shift. Also traffic control, b/c something like 4 or 5 different zoo vehicles came through while we were there.
They're actually not supposed to drive through that stretch b/c of the monkeys, but they do anyway. The woman who runs the program was there and she was PISSED. She actually stepped out in front of one of the carts that came by while the monkeys were on the fence, and he tried to swerve around her instead of stopping! Granted, she wasn't in her zoo duds, but still -- she was clearly trying to stop him for a reason. Asshat. OTOH, there were two employees in another cart who were driving through, saw that the monkeys were on the fence, and actually turned their cart off to wait until the monkeys were safely back in the enclosure. We made a point of thanking them for waiting.
I'll try to get up there some other evening with a camera, to see if I can get some up-close-and-personal shots of them.
Tomorrow, the eye doctor. Still seeing that white spot occasionally out of the corner of my left eye, and it's a little more frequent now, and my eye still feels weird -- so I suppose it's a good thing I'm going in. Keep your fingers crossed that it's something simple and inexpensive, and that I'll be able to get my prescription for contacts. Reiki is, of course, welcome. (I'll be doing some on myself tonight, of course.)
Brazil actually ate all her wet food today -- I only put it down this morning and it's GONE, including the powdered supplements I put in it. Good girl! She actually gets a second helping tonight. Ha, I can hear her in there right now, licking the bowl.
I guess I should try and get some sleep soon, since I have to get up early.
