Just so you know this is entirely Loki’s fault… locking in a week
Despite what you might think, there was once a craze for spines and spikes. Not on collars and cuffs... but on sex toys. This unfortunately coincided with my 18th year and thus first splurge. In my idiocy of not wanting to look like a newbie and potentially get carded when I didn’t really have proper ID, I decided to go with the scary, but apparently wonderful and orgasmtastic twirling, tingling rabbit covered in “soft spikes”… quite frankly why I ever believed spikes could be soft I don’t know. I can’t find a picture of it, it’s been a while, but to give you a rough idea, it was a little like this:
Except it had a much more bulbous head.
It was painful the first time I used it right down to the last time. No amount of lube or pregame warm up could help me to enjoy it. It was also a bitch to clean. Let me to be blunt, Anne Summers picked up a reputation of being oversized and impractical; apparently they’ve learnt the error of their ways. That said, spikes are not for beginners, learn from my error. Also, if you are on the normal to small side, meaning a normal vibrator leaves you pleasantly full or a little fuller than that, then the spikes will probably push it more to the painful side of things. Throw in it rotating rather than vibrating (I really did not read the box) and really you’re wanting to be on the looser end of the scale, otherwise it doesn’t really move, but the control outside (which you need to grab to switch it off) does x_x .
The only redeeming quality was the bunny vibrator on the outside, the sliding control made that easy to crank up and down. But given its size and weight, not really practical to use only for that.
There are few spikes on the market at the moment, knobbly and textured yes, but outright spines and spikes, not so much. Which quite frankly, in my mind, is a very good thing. It does however suck if you're looking for a fantastic gag gift.
