An update! Yay!

Ok, ok .. poor, poor Jim, to not only be hit with such a terrifying realization but to then find out that one of his own was a traitor AND to be forced and kill him in such a gruesome manner *sniffles* He's going to be wreck after this - and I truly hope Spock can see how cut up he is about the death he caused there rather than see a monster in the one who did the killing :( It's admirable how well Kirk is keeping the monster in check that howling inside of him, wanting to be let free - it can't be easy to not give in to the darkness that's calling for him to abandon himself to it!

In a twisted sad way, Ferris makes a whole lot of sense - it's easy to see how one might hope/fervently wish to believe that by 'now', whenever 'now' might be, humanity has gotten better than its history and has managed to moved beyond all its previous failings so that this kind of knowledge would not be abused. And what amazing knowledge it could be too, so alluring and full of promises of a better, evolved future! Really easy to see how

OH HAI! Are you back from the Americas? I waved South a couple of times ;)

*exuberant nodding goes here* I'm so glad you think Ferris makes sense. He's young (or I guess was young XD) enough to be blinded by rhetoric, and it sounds so good, right? Immunity from disease, humanity evolving into something greater. Gloss over the details of how it's accomplished and convince yourself that it's for a just cause and it's the perfect recipe for atrocity. After all, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs! It's frustrating, just how easy it is to buy in.

I actually had to rein myself in from holding forth on it even more. (you may have noticed the abruptness of Ferris' SHUT UP AND DIE KIRK, ARGH! ^.^;) I had to remember that I was telling a story and not preaching.

Plus, I can probably work more speechifying in later. Mustn't blow the clumsy exposition wad all at once, after all ;)

Also, I got to work in a Space Seed reference :D WIN!
