It's... ah... something.

Something special.

I suggest reading if you've ever wanted to experience the feeling of your brain trying to actively escape your body, but don't like taking drugs.

I don't agree with most of it, but she has some good points, if you can look through all the crap ( ... )

The root of the crap, IMO, is the idea of being "free" from "feminism" (which is a word I don't think the OP understands)

The courts do tend to "favour" women in custody situations because women tend to be the primary caregivers, even when both parents work. 2004 New America Foundation Report on Work and Family lays out some pretty good data that also goes into detail on to why this impacts women financially with regards to their employability, which *needs* to be considered when deciding child support. Is the system in place to address this issue perfect? Nope. But that's because society isn't perfect ( ... )

If the decisions she made involve being unwilling to settle and choosy about her partners, then she shouldn't be shamed for that. She shouldn't have to feel bad about being too picky, too promiscuous, too whatever. If she hasn't found the right partner and she wants children, she should be able to adopt or opt for a donor without having to continuously justify that decision to anybody else and be judged for not being able to 'get a man ( ... )

My sister doesn't feel ashamed AT ALL...seriously. I don't think she even knows what that means. And if anyone tried to judge her, she'd simply tell them to fuck off ( ... )

And if anyone tried to judge her, she'd simply tell them to fuck off. Good for her :)

And yeah, as I said in previous comment (or meant to say, I don't know which anymore, it's late, I talk too much sometimes) but being able to make choices doesn't mean they're always going to be the right ones. And it doesn't always mean you'll get what you want. We're still human and oh-so-capable of fucking up. We just shouldn't have to worry about it on any level but "I made some choices that I later regretted". Our gender (race, sexual orientation, etc...) shouldn't even weigh in.

But she cries to me, she wants it so bad, and she absolutely CANNOT understand why I don't want what she wants. Exactly. People are individuals. They have different realities. They may want different things. Understanding that one simple thing will go so far in eliminating so much interpersonal crap ( ... )

Yeah, I have no problem with that. If everyone agreed the world would be a very dull place.

You have a good night, and a great day tomorrow!

Yeah, my brother is aware. He doesn't plan on having children, and luckily, he's found a girl who - so far - has been perfectly okay with that. Oh, no...my sister's situation has nothing to do with her career choice. It was all personal choices that made her path more difficult than it had to be ( ... )

I believe that women can work and have a family - my mom did it, and did it pretty well, if I do say so myself. I think they can too, but I also think that it's a lot harder for them to be successful at it then it should be. I happen to be very fortunate in my employer, as in my direct boss, never put any restrictions on my upward mobility because of my gender. However, I have had to deal with shit at my workplace that none of my male colleagues have had to. I have seen women with families judged harshly for needing to take time off to tend to their children. I have seen men's eyes literally bug out when I raised the question of why they couldn't take time off to deal with a meeting with the school principal due to disciplinary issues. And I think that's crap. Thus, feminism ( ... )

I guess I'm lucky. I haven't had to deal with any more shit than anyone else. Even as I walk the path of becoming a foster parent, and knowing how much of my time that's going to take once I do start accepting children into my home, I still won't have a problem. I'll count my blessing on that one ( ... )
