Dissect a trillion sighs away

Enough family drama, yeah? Mom has been blocked from my facebook, no relatives have emerged from the woodwork to be pushy at me re: reconciliation and At The Drive-In's One Armed Scissor was playing on the radio when I went to get lunch. All of these are Good Things!

Before the drama, yesterday was actually pretty fun (and continued to be fun during the drama) due to sirona_gs's Avengers Friending meme/Party Post. I had an absolute blast talking about beer, porn, comics and why Coulson is the greatest thing ever. *g* I even found people to geek out about David Eddings with and will be rereading the Belgariad and Mallorean this month. It's been years, but I was reminded that Silk and Sadi have a lot to answer for in terms of what I love most in characters (a healthy heaping of snark and angst, yes, please. Epic skills in the arts of espionage and assassination are also appreciated.)

Welcome, new friends. Romper Room shout-out: amcw177, dazzledfirestar, delicatale, earlofcardigans, gottalovev, laria_gwyn, littlepunkryo, msdillydally, shinysylver, sirona_gs, somehowunbroken. (oh god, I hope I didn't miss anybody XD) Ahoy! Looking forward to getting to know you and to all of our future Avenger-y shenanigans. May the porn be with us.

IDK, maybe I should do a getting to know you meme, or something? Eh, later. In the meantime, make yourselves at home, use the tags and heed the warnings :)

In other news, so you can hold us accountable to it, jaylee_g and I are going to make a concerted effort to read ACTUAL BOOKS in 2012. While I still read every day, most of it seems to be fanfic. Lots and lots of fanfic. Which is fabulous, but I need new things to squee about too, yeah? The last time I actually finished a new book (not counting the many Vonnegut & Dresden Files re-reads I do regularly) was this summer when I finished Leadership Principles of Colin Powell. Yes, my last finished book was a Business book. This is sad.(Before that, it was Bill Bryson's Notes from a Small Island, which is marginally better. Definitely more entertaining, though Colin Powell's book had some pretty great insights.)

To kick things off, we're going to give Hal Duncan's Vellum a shot, since it's been on my shelf unread for ages and the summary sounds intriguing.(*wiki's* Oh hey, he's kind of hot. Reminds me of Gwaine. BONUS :D )

It's 2017 and angels and demons walk the earth. Once they were human; now they are unkin, transformed by the ancient machine-code language of reality itself. They seek The Book of All Hours, the mythical tome within which the blueprint for all reality is transcribed, which has been lost somewhere in the Vellum-the vast realm of eternity upon which our world is a mere scratch.

The Vellum, where the unkin are gathering for war.

The Vellum, where a fallen angel and a renegade devil are about to settle an age-old feud.

The Vellum, where the past, present, and future will collide with ancient worlds and myths.

And the Vellum will burn. . .

I can't wait. If anyone wants to jump aboard this crazy train, feel free. It's in no way organized and I may even get my wrists slapped for gushing about it already, but the more the merrier! You can't stop me jaylee_g, I do what I want ;)

fandom love, jaylee_g is my sekrit soulmate, omg i can read!, gwaine is a sexy beast, awesome flist is awesome, they avenge things ok?, silly
