NOT GOOD

OK. I just tried to edit my last post and got magically transported to 3 different people's private accounts, with full access. I am assuming in the same time period that my account was similarly available ( Read more... )

OMG!!

i was thinking a lot about this too, not for security, but because i need to separate my persona i think, i was thinking in doing a pool, because my son is asperger and my other kids is adhd, and i think it is important for me to talk about this things, but they are not fangirl related at all, so i was thinking what to do, but after what you said, i suppose it is better to change my private things out no?

Yeah, I'm a little leery of keeping non-fannish things on here now. I have a temporary plan, we'll see how far I take it.

Worrying. But it doesn't change much--friends locks and privacy locks have never been good for that much, even when working correctly. :-|

The thing that worries me is that it was a site release, not a hack and I am less down with incompetent security than I am with random assholery.

Besides, maybe it's time to go full anon on the personal shit. I've certainly been thinking about it long enough.

I don't know why I said that. Others having editing access to our content is MUCH scarier than f-lock fail. And not everyone is backed up--in fact, it's kinda hard to back up an LJ unless you use DW or make regular conscientious efforts to do things the hard way. Has LJ said/announced anything about it? *goes to check*

Eh, this has been an issue recurrently over the last couple of years.

Not dicounting it as a worry, because WHAT THE FUCK, WHY?! but more tempered by how this isn't completely new.

Did you leave a ticket describing the problem? Because that'll be helpful for finding the fix and because you're the first person I've heard with this problem since the last release.

Nothing you post online is ever really private. I learned that the hard way.

I can deal with random strangers *reading* my private entries. Not so much with the editing.
