The first day of Geek.Kon was sublime.

Being at Geek.Kon reminded me of two things, one of which was brought up at a panel much later on.
1) Madison is over-flowing with amazing people, that I hate living so far from and can't hang out with more..

it used to be held every couple of months, but the people that run it (the FlamesRising.com people.. which include Bill Bodden and McElroy..)
I think that Matt McElroy said that the next one will be in March.. and that it will be just a yearly thing from now on. It's sort of like a miniature convention..

however, start hitting some of the local conventions.. I am not the most socially adept creature on the planet either, but they are a great way to start meeting people. (and there is usually an OddCon party to hang out at)
but GRRM was.. umm.. 3 yrs ago now I believe (I missed him by one year.. however I wasn't living in the state at the time)
