The first day of Geek.Kon was sublime.
Panels..
Friends..
Libations of mind altering properties..

Being at Geek.Kon reminded me of two things, one of which was brought up at a panel much later on.
1) Madison is over-flowing with amazing people, that I hate living so far from and can't hang out with more..

The amazing people of Bill Bodden, Matt Forbeck, Monica Valentinelli, and etc?

Matt Forbeck is in Beloit, WI
the others are all in Madison, I believe..

the OddCon people are all, well.. almost all, in Wisconsin as well..

eerrr.. the OddCon people are all, mostly all, in Madison (that is.. slight edit on that)

We went to Oddcon... two years ago? Whenever GRRM was the GoH. I dunno, I guess we just fail at being social ;P But thanks! :) The meetup thing looks interesting.

there is also "Madison Games Day"
it used to be held every couple of months, but the people that run it (the FlamesRising.com people.. which include Bill Bodden and McElroy..)

I think that Matt McElroy said that the next one will be in March.. and that it will be just a yearly thing from now on. It's sort of like a miniature convention..

will be Monte Cook :-D

however, start hitting some of the local conventions.. I am not the most socially adept creature on the planet either, but they are a great way to start meeting people. (and there is usually an OddCon party to hang out at)

but GRRM was.. umm.. 3 yrs ago now I believe (I missed him by one year.. however I wasn't living in the state at the time)
