As I am running a 7th Sea game on the 17th up here in Madison..
I am making several pre-generated characters..
and..
since it's me..
the pre-gens have to rock
so.. here are the backgrounds of the first three characters I've written up
Rafeal de Inaz del Lopez
Castillian Cook and Ships Doctor
Rafeal was not always a coward, and he would be the first to point that out over a pint or two. Rafeal is a bastard son of a noble in the Lopez family, and while he was not officially recognized he did receive an education and the family name. It was more than many others, so Rafeal didn't complain.
He was well on his way to becoming a doctor when the Montaigne invaded. They swarmed his families land, destroyed the towns he knew, and burned the University he had been attending. He joined the guerrila campaign that his countrymen initiated against the invaders, and he was a good fighter.. few good stand up to his blade. But, as the months wore on, and his companions died by his side or under his care once the battle was fought. It ground at his resolve and ate away at him, yet he continued to fight.
At least till his group was chased down to the sea side and were wiped out in an unbelievably bloody battle. He watched as his last brothers fell, he watched as his sisters were either taken or slain, he watched as friends were butchered and soon enough he was among the last survivors.
Call it bravado, call it a noble urge, call it honor.. but he drew himself up and dove forward for one last charge, and he was cut down by a hail of gunfire from a row of Musketeers. At least.. that is what his few remaining comrades saw. What really happened is that Rafeal could take it no more and wished all the pain and weariness to just end. He knew if he surrendered that they would just torture him for months and lock him away, and he knew he could not fight his way to freedom (not that he wanted to anymore), so he stood up and used the Montaigne gunners as a form of suicide.
His attempt failed. The bullets hit home, he was thrown back, and he fell into the sea.. something that would have killed almost any other man. Rafeal was knocked out and floated out to sea where he was picked up by a ship. That was almost a year ago and he has yet to step foot onto Thean soil since. What he doesn't know is his act of 'bravery' inspired his fellow fighters and they won the day.
They have gone on winning, using his name as a battle chant.. almost a prayer. Rafeal was martyred in their eyes, and he is a shining example of what it means to be a Castillian.
Paolo Guilliorno
Vodacce Sailor
Paolo is pretty, Paolo has always been pretty, and the girls have always loved Paolo. That love is heartily returned. Paolo grew up in the streets of Numa, but its devote ways were not exactly in tune with his own feelings, so at the age of 14 he set off on his own. He ended up at a small winery owned by a minor nobleman that catered to the various tourists. It was a good and easy life.
Paolo learned that his handsome face drew more than admiring glances when he learned to massage the aches and pains of the road from the visiting tourists. His quick fingers, shining eyes, and sultry Vodacce accent caused many a maid to forget her vows. Paolo was soon joined in his duties by a young woman, since the owner did not wish for the male patrons to be neglected. To their displeasure, she was quite devote and only administered the advertised services.
As the years moved on, the nobleman found a noblewoman to marry, and her wandering eye soon found Paolo. Nine months later the noblewoman gave birth to a young boy that bore a striking resemblance to Paolo, and Paolo soon found himself running down the road from a very irate former employer. Sadly, the nobleman had many connections and it became necassary to leave his homeland in a hurry.
Thus he found himself aboard a ship, and then another ship when that ships captains daughter became pregnant.
Paolo soon found it a wise decision to learn to defend himself and took up the sword. He traded his charming smile and attentive fingers for training in the school of Ambrogia from a swordswoman. It was one of the few relationships he had that didn't end up in him running for his life.
Geoffry Miller
Avalonian Sailor and Carpenter's Assistant
Geoffry has always had a.. colorful career. He grew up in a small countryside town, where he learned early on to use a bow both for defense from the Montaigne and simply for hunting. He even began learning a trade as a Cooper, it just wasn't the life for him. He discovered this fact one night in the local pub when he came to a disagreement with an Avalonian soldier.
Geoffry left him and his two companions dazed, toothless, and bloody on the floor as he hurriedly left for a new life abroad. Life abroad was not what he hoped it would be, he might be able to keep himself fed out in the country (as long as he avoided the game wardens, anyway) but in the city he was forced to learn a new set of skills in the gambling halls. Again, his temper got the better of him while he was in a smoke-filled room surrounded by the less-than-savory members of Avalonian society.
Luckily, he was close enough to the docks that he could easily find an outbound vessel in need of an extra hand. Due to his time in the den's of sin, Geoffry had picked up several languages, and this aided him in his newest endeavor. It didn't hurt that he had previous woodworking experience, and he found himself working with the ship's carpenter.
There will be around 7 more.. as I believe that a total of 8 have rsvp'ed that they will be attending..
this will give those that show up a decent assortment of characters to choose from
