(cross-posted to the Ives email list as well)
I went out today and bought 14 yards of fabric (8 yards of main color with 6 yards of a contrast color) and a combined total of 11 yards of ribbon for trim, and lots of matching thread and embroidery floss... and as soon as I signed the receipt I had a horrible thought: "Now what?"
I need the services of someone (in the LA area) who can use this fabric & ribbon to create a Renaissance middle-class costume for me, with sleeves. I've got an old bodice that can be re-covered to create a lower middle-class thing, or [Edit time=12:47am date=20080203] Ives Costume Czar says I'm not to re-cover my old bodice -- must start from scratch)[/Edit] I'm willing to fund the necessary materials to create a corset and/or whatever else I may need to create a proper middle-class thing... but it's something I'm hoping to have ready for southern faire this year and I'm afraid it may be a bit too ambitious to be my very first real sewing project. ;)
Anyone know anyone who would be willing to help me out with this? I can't afford to pay someone to make it for me, though hopefully I can afford all the materials and maybe some sort of in-kind or trade of services thing.
If you are (or know) someone who can help me out, please respond. Comments will be screened for privacy of contact info (I'll unscreen any that don't contain contact info).
Thanks!!
