a few quick updates and questions

1. Graham has been sneezing for a week, so I took him into the vet today. Upper respiratory infection. Given a shot of an antihistamine and an antibiotic. Given prescription meds: Chlorpheniramine (I think this is an antihistamine), and Amoxi Tabs (amoxicillan). I've got to give him one Amoxi Tab and half a Chlorophen twice per day. I gave him the first dosage tonight. Poor guy spat up the Amoxi about 10 times and got the blue coloration of the tablet on his lips and chin and all over my fingers, but finally he swallowed it. He didn't fight the Chlorophen at all, so I wonder whether he tongued it and spat it out later... But if the Chlorophen is just an antihistamine, then I'm not too worried about that.

2. um... I'm allergic to amoxicillan -- it makes me break out in a rash. Anyone know whether handling the moistened tabs and getting the outer layer of the tabs all over my hands is something to worry about?

3. Because Graham was prescribed half tablets of the Chlorophen, I went and cut them all in half. Fortunately I've got a pill cutter that made it easy... but I had to clean it first to avoid contaminating his pills with whatever I'd cut last. In wiping off the razor blade, I managed to slice about 3-5 millimeters into my right index finger. It bled heavily, but I got it to stop bleeding by using pressure with a paper towel, then washed it and bandaged it... it seems fine, is a little painful... I'm assuming it'll self-heal without the need for anything excessive like stitches or a butterfly bandage... but as I'm one of those rare people who's a hypochondriac and so aware of it that I tell myself I'm being silly (e.g. generally I won't believe that I'm sick unless I literally can't get out of bed or I start throwing up or I fall over or something, even though the first tickle makes me think I might be sick)... basically I underreact to a lot of medical situations due to my hypochondriac suppression. :) So ... any opinions on this little slice?

... and I think that about covers my updates and questions. :)
