So Mr. Al Gore, tell me this.
If half of the foreign oil that oil companies import to California is from the middle east, where is the other half imported from? More importantly, how much oil used in California is "foreign oil"?
Don't try to scare us with your statements that California is "dangerously dependent on foreign oil" without giving us the full context, just to get some proposition passed that'll tax the production of oil *in California* (not outside of California -- maybe it'd be better to tax the importation of oil) to fund some bureaucracy to research into potential alternative energy sources without any expectation of results.
This proposition is faulty. I have nothing against limiting our reliance on oil and researching into alternatives, but please -- come up with a new proposition that won't increase importation of oil (increasing dependence on this "dangerous" foreign oil) and increase the cost of gas that's already too expensive.
