update from the front, at home

I'm working on the thesis from home today. All you can hear is the gentle thud of my keys, Michel Le Grand's piano, and the odd giggle accompanied by a muttered "edit, edit, edit, edit, edit." I'm chasing down 'useful material' (TM) in Reflections on Seminar XVII: Jacques Lacan and the Other Side of Psychoanalysis, specifically the way that the discourse of knowledge production seems to have shifted over to the analyst's discourse: we inhabit the place of truth rather than knowing, we research because we live in a fantasy/promise that something really will come of all those man-hours spent in a lab.

Like I said: edit, edit, edit.

I'm down to Chapter 2 of my thesis, working backwards from Chapter 7, and it seems like there's a modest line of continuity between all the chapters thus far. Sometimes consternation reaches new heights when I realise just how AWFUL my writing is when I don't have a confident grasp of the ideas I'm discussing.

Anyway, I best get back to my gentle thumping on the keys. I accidentally got trapped re-watching old Zero Punctuation videos last night and neglected to finish reading this book.
