Sitting Comfortably at the base of Some monument In the centre of O'Connell St (the main thrrughfare of Dublin) the bells of Eason strike 1 pm in a remarkably similar way to its London Cousin.
I've been In Ireland just over one week and So far I am thoroughly enjoying the change in life style. Being a Student does have its advantages I've come to re-discover.
The move, though stressful, went hitch free. Although for the first few days we were without water, Causing a hilarious incident of Alaine being trapped in the shower covered In soap and shampoo & trying to call me in the front room without alerting her parents.
All that remains now is or so incomprehensible red tape to be completed, duplicated, lost, found, questioned and generally ignored. Honestly, the governmental process here makes that DNA sketch a walk in the park. I Sha'n't go into it other than to say, Beware!
The natives are very friendly and chatty, altogether a walk down the Street is much like visiting a distant aunt. Polite Inquiry followed by apt observation and promises to visit again for tea soon. Irish intellect is far divorced firm the usual Father Ted type presumptions, however there are flashes into the pyche which can, If looked at in contest, provide an explancition for all those bloody jokes we get in our crackers with annual reguality.
Firs instance, Who puts up a sign for a Shop, Indicating that the sign in question is only temporary? Is the owner so fearful that the poor quality sign will cause tuts of disapproval from its patrons? Who would not use a shop that had a dishevelled sign? And, more to the point, what is wrong with the sign? Really, Can you spot any flaw in its "Signess" or its innate ability to tell you that yes, this is the shop you want, oh and by the way ignore the fact I'm getting my curls done a week on tuesday, thanks.
I've found Cycling into the city a good and calming influence, once you've completed the murderous 10 miles round trip of lunatic Bus drivers & assassin moped agents ANYTHING will feel like Scones with the WI.
Looking forwards to starting lectures, I have advanced coding, number theory and cryptography amongst others on marday alone. So slowly this fortnight shall pass.
My bum is Starting to ache new, time to get out on the open road and dodge pots of gold on the way back to campus.
