I work for a K-12 school district. Our department (IT) wants some kind of "To Do" list. A cross between a whiteboard and to-do list. Needs to support separate categories (we'd use them to represent the different elementary and other buildings we support). Something that will change as quickly as our 'projects' usually do. We're looking to supplement our ticket system (Track-IT) and use this for things more important than a ticket, like general goals for the week and larger jobs (setting up a new computer lab, etc.).
Currently, We're using a REAL whiteboard. We have a sort-of chart drawn, each building we support has a row, items for each building written inside. But to move around things, we actually have to erase them.. priorities are hard to show. It's just a perfect area for software to be easier than real life! :(
I was thinking something between refrigerator poetry magnets and an MS Office ToDo list. The software should allow multiple users to interact simultaneously, especially during meetings. There's only 5 of us. I suppose I'm looking for something more visual than a To-Do list, yet organized like one. How about going as far as connecting related items, creating relationships between them. We will mostly use it DURING a meeting, hammering out what needs to be done first. Then just have it as a homepage on our workstations to display the weeks goals/tasks.
Web-based would be nice, something lightweight enough to set as a homepage. Requiring a password is okay, as long as it can set cookies for login. IE and Firefox support is a must.
It seems to me there's some perfect app sitting out there waiting to be installed, but I can't find it. Any help?
