Chapter 4

"So...how was school?" Key called from the living room couch.

"UUUUUUUUUUUGGGHHH!" Taemin groaned as he stomped up the stairs to his room.

"What," Key wasn't exactly sure what to ask, "what?!"

Meanwhile, Minho was clutched over, laughing and almost in tears.

Key spun around and glared at the tall man.  "Must I reiterate? What happened?!"

Minho tried to reply, but was too out of breathe to even make a sound.  Key waited impatiently for him to straighten up and lean against the wall.

"He fainted," Minho said quietly, trying his best to suppress his undeniable amusement.

"My baby what?" Key exclaimed with concern wrapped around every syllable.

"Don't worry so much," Minho replied trying to shush the diva, but Key didn't seem to buy into Minho's calm composure.  "He passed out because he was too nervous," Minho continued in an even quieter voice.

A red shoe came flying at Minho's head, making a deadly accurate impact and startling the tall boy.  He looked up and found the source of the shoe standing at the top of the staircase.

"YAH!  Shut up!" Taemin yelled.  He was leaning over the railing and glaring at the tall boy.  He quickly looked at Key, who wore an expression of surprise, then back at Minho.  "Did you tell him?"

"Maybe," Minho said slowly, letting the one word saturate the air like humidity before a hurricane (dumbest analogy ever!).

Two sharp knives stuck in the wall right where Minho's head happened to be just milliseconds ago.  Taemin was already pulling another from his sleeve and hoisting himself over the railing before Minho could gather his wits.

"You asshole!  I told you not to tell anyone," Taemin shouted at the same time he threw the knife at Minho's retreating back.

Minho looked behind him just in time to notice the sharp object aimed at his precious figure.  He side-stepped and let the knife over take him.  He glanced back at the red-faced teenager and watched him pull up his white shirt and retrieve three more daggers from the holster around his chest.  Minho had to force himself to concentrate after witnessing Taemin's milky stomach.

In the midst of Minho's inattentiveness, Taemin managed to clip Minho's jacket with one dagger and pin the jacket to the wall with another.  Taemin released his third dagger and Minho cursed before dropping to the floor, slipping out of his jacket, and barely dodging the deadly weapon.

"Shit, Taemin," he looked at the younger's red face.  They both were panting heavily with adrenaline rushing through their veins.  Minho stood up cautiously before continuing, "it wasn't that bad."

Taemin was still fuming, and Minho couldn't decide if an embarrassed Taemin was cuter than an angry Taemin.  Minho couldn't control his mouth and his words came out without much thought.  "On the bright side, now you know the school nurse incase you start having seizures during lunch hour." Minho can't resist teasing him.

"You asshole!" Taemin lunged forward trying to grasp Minho's neck, but Minho dodged the attack and ran for the front door.  Taemin pulled out another dagger from his sock and chucked it at the taller one, not really aiming because he was too upset and couldn't exactly see straight.  The dagger stabbed the corner Minho had just turned around, and Minho stopped to inspect the dagger in his panic.

"Damn!  How many frickin weapons did you bring to school today!  You can get expelled for weapon possession, y'know," Minho stated matter-of-factly eyeing the other boy.

"I'm going to kill you!" Taemin shouted and chased after the tall, dark-haired bully.

"What's all the noise about?" Jonghyun asked as he came down the stairs.  He noticed the several knives sticking out of the wall.

"The two students are fighting," replied an exasperated Key who had moved to the kitchen table in order to witness the whole scenario from a better angle.

"Again?" Jonghyun sounded just as exasperated as Key, "Over what this time?"

"Taemin's embarrassed that he passed out at school today," Key replied while he stood up to retrieve two glasses and pour some water.

"SHUT UP KEY-HYUNG!" Taemin yelled from somewhere in the house.  Then a loud crash was heard and Minho appeared in front of the kitchen table.

"Oh hey, Jonghyun-hyung," Minho panted, continuing to run, this time, for the backdoor instead.  Jonghyun nodded in acknowledgement, but Minho didn't notice since he was already out of sight.

Taemin also made his appearance in front of the kitchen table looking like a hot mess.  His shirt was completely untucked, his jacket was wrinkled, and his hair was messy.  He didn't even notice his hyungs as he chased after Minho.  "You're gonna die!" he yelled while sprinting across the living room and around the corner.

"Good thing Jay's at the new office today," Jonghyun stated.  The family business had grown over the past couple years and more employees were trained and hired to keep up with demand.  In order to keep up, Jay had rented a floor in an office building downtown.

Key nodded in agreement.  "Maybe, we should go visit him."

"And leave your baby alone in a knife fight?"

"He seems to be winning if you ask me."  Key sipped his water and eyed the corner the two had disappeared around.

Sure enough, Minho rushed around the corner back into the living room with Taemin right on his heel.  He tripped over the couch when he tried to jump over it and left plenty of time for Taemin to jump off the couch and body slam him.  Minho crawled for the front door with Taemin riding on his back and trying to hold him down.  Minho wore the biggest smile possible as he stood up and Taemin remained attached to his back like a koala.  He had his legs wrapped around Minho's waist holding him up and his arms around the taller one's neck in a headlock.  Both seemed to be completely oblivious of their hyungs.

"I hate you so much," Taemin growled through clenched teeth.

Minho struggled to walk toward the door while trying to rip Taemin's arms from his head.  Minho lost his balance and fell backwards onto Taemin, and the impact made the younger one temporarily lose his grip on Minho.

Minho quickly crawled out of the younger's hold and stood up, about to sprint toward the door, but Taemin recovered and lunged forward grabbing him by the waist.  They fell to the floor again, and Taemin landed awkwardly with his face in Minho's buttocks.

"Get off my butt!" Minho yelled and Taemin surprisingly got off in his confusion and embarrassment.  Minho took his chance to run, laughing loudly.  Taemin, realizing what he'd  done, took off after him again.

"Soooooooo glad Jay is not here right now," Jonghyun commented and Key nodded in agreement.

Minho made it to the front door and almost had his hand around the doorknob, but the red-haired boy pounced onto his back and pulled him to the floor.  Taemin proceeded to grab Minho's hair and shake his head violently.

The front door magically opened and the two quarreling boys froze.  Onew stared at the two on the floor unsure of what was happening.  His mouth opened, then closed, then opened again, but the man could not comprehend what to ask.  So, instead he gawked at the pair on the floor waiting for an explanation.

"Hey hyung," Taemin squeaked out.

"This is not what it looks like," Minho said from beneath Taemin.

"Well, it looks like Taemin was trying to tear your head off," Onew replied, crossing his arms, "I can't fathom what it is supposed to be."

"Minho made fun of me," Taemin stated quickly in his defense.

"Don't pin this all on me!  You're the one who's a little sensitive!" Minho argued.

"Sensitive my ass!" Taemin yelled back, shaking Minho's head again.

"Stop it!" Onew ordered and both of them remained still.  "Taemin," the said boy looked up, "get off Minho."

"Sorry hyung," Taemin said quietly once Minho had gotten off of the floor.

"I'm sorry too," Minho replied just as quietly.

"Yay, problem solved," Onew said happily and flung his arms over both boys' shoulders.  "So, Key!" he yelled across the room, "I was thinking we should have chicken for dinner."

Taemin was having a nice dream, and in that dream he had Minho tied to a pole and was poking him with a very sharp stick. Sadly, his dream was cut short because a sudden cold draft enveloped his body and awoke him from his slumber.

"Get up," Minho commanded.  He was already dressed in his school uniform and held Taemin's precious blanket in his hand. "C'mon, we're going to be late if you don't get up." He dropped the blanket on the floor to cross his arms.

"Shiro," Taemin mumbled and buried his face into his pillow hoping to somehow hide within its fluffy embrace.

"Taemin," Minho said sternly, but was only met with silence.  So, he was left with only one option.

Minho abruptly grabbed Taemin's ankles and yanked the boy away from his pillow.  The boy gasped in surprise and quickly grabbed the pole connecting his bunk bed.  He refused to attend school again.

"Taemin!  You're going to school!" Minho grunted trying to pull the red-headed teenager away from the bed.  Taemin was practically suspended in the air between Minho and the pole.

"Never!" Taemin yelled back and hugged the pole tighter.

Minho realized that this war would not end soon enough, and decided to use his last resort.  He gripped the boy's legs with one arm and used his other to tickle the boy's stomach.

"Ah!" Taemin gasped and tried his best to keep hold of the pole, but Minho's furious tickling was throwing his muscles into uncontrollable spasms.  His grip failed in a matter of seconds and he landed on the floor.  "Damnit, hyung," Taemin whined as he got up off the floor.

"Get dressed," he replied tossing the uniform at Taemin, "the driver leaves in ten minutes."

"Fine."

Taemin was not excited for his second day of school.  Mainly because his first day only lasted a total of an hour and a half before he blacked-out.  He sighed heavily before exiting the vehicle.

"What's wrong?" Minho asked.

"Do you really need to ask?" Taemin replied before walking ahead with sulky shoulders.

Minho matched his pace with the younger one's and placed a hand on his shoulder.  "Don't worry about it.  If anyone dares to try and make fun of you, I'll personally sew their mouth shut," Minho said with a smirk.

Taemin looked up at Minho with those sulky eyes that strongly resembled a lost puppy and Minho's heart picked up its pace.  "Really?" he asked.

"I have the sewing kit right here if you need proof," Minho replied while pointing at his backpack with his thumb, "but, I don't think I'll need it since you're uncontrollably adorable when you're upset."

Minho dodged a jab from Taemin and smiled at the younger boy.  Their relationship always consisted of fighting, but would never be broken.  After all, Minho was Taemin's first friend and Taemin was the reason Minho still lived.  Taemin slowly returned the smile and Minho's heart decided it was going to do gymnastics.  Taemin took his place next to Minho, and both were about to set off for school again, but instead, Taemin jabbed Minho in the stomach and ran ahead.

"That's for yesterday hyung!" he called back, and Minho sprinted after the boy.
