Ikuru and Ai Redux: Alchemie no Densetsu ~1~

Jan 08, 2007 10:34

The past few days have been a veritable blur. Not only because of the Taiwan quake that has rendered me totally unable to post on my blog (as well as you, dear readers).

Okay, let's start with the trivial stuff: Alchemie no Densetsu (aka "The Legend of Alchemie"). To brief you all on who Alchemie is, try playing Super Robot Taisen Impact or Original Generation 2 - hint: she's the one with the red mech that looks like a twenty-foot oni.

It's just ten minutes since I've read "The Camino" by Shirley MacLaine (my favorite author, she beats Trevanian ever so slightly and Dan Brown with a two-by-four, forgive my coarse language). And all I can say is... wow. Just like John Woo's "The Killer", the book literally blew me away.

Now I can safely close my eyes, feel the wind blow, open up to the heavens and see the stars above, knowing full well there is no entity who behaves like a spoiled child with Legos watching over me. (Hint: If the spoiled chiled sees that the Legos don't move the way he wants it to, he shatters them and builds over again. Now picture the Legos having sentience. You know what I'm getting at.)

By the way, "Ikuru and Ai: Redux" comes fresh off the heels of "The Camino". If you've read the book and the manga "Ai-Ren", you'll understand. And the effect of both on my thinking has been deepened threefold (Char Custom thinking cap lol), thus my consciousness expands. The maxim "if you see a righteous man, do what he does; if you see a wicked man, look at yourself" now makes so much more sense.

Back in high school, nine years ago, I formulated my life's quote: "Everything Is Relative", taken from the title of an Archibald Higgins (not the guy from the Adventure Island series, lol) science book. (Yes, that's where I also developed an infatuation for my own Sophie, with me as the hapless Higgins.) Well, it was only after a couple of years did I take this statement seriously... And it echoes so very close, because I've been invited to a reunion of my high school batch! I think it will be five years before I can, but who knows, I've got to see if my beliefs will stand the strain of real life. Sabi kasi ng idol kong si Shirley MacLaine 'yan eh! (That's because it's what my idol, Shirley MacLaine, says!)

And now, I've felt uplifted. Event upon event has piled up on me, leading me to decide that whoever I encounter, whatever happens, I'll keep going. No more looking at the wayside.

Deep down inside, I think the reason I've been hunkered down at home doing nothing but play Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (go go Colm and Neimi! best couple ever, lol), watch CSI: Miami, and in general do nothing is because I'm afraid of the journey - because I know, deep in my heart that life is all about the journey.

Not anymore.

Universe, bring it on!

(P.S. I'll be bringing a card and a disc for someone Wednesday.)
