I've been thinking it's been a long while since I was in Canada, and am considering a trip to Toronto, with multiple, freeform objectives. Except for one boozy, wasted (not because of the booze, because it was unexpectedly a holiday weekend and everything in Toronto was closed, including the restaurants) weekend in 1994, all of my trips to Toronto seem to have been highly scheduled for one reason or another, and I'm wanting to just see the city.
Points of interest/objectives of the trip would include (in stream of consciousness order):
1. rummaging through any military surplus stores in and around Toronto. The grass might not be greener on the other side of the Great Lakes, but the CADPAT sure is!
2. Checking out the Toronto hacker spaces
3. rummaging through and surplus technology/computer/electronic recycling operations, surplus stores, etc.
4. Checking out the Toronto night life, with a special ear for electronic music and an eye for cool and unusual places.
With all this in mind, I'm asking for helpful advice from the Canadians who are reading this. :)
