Orihime sat up slowly, pushing the back of her wrist over her cheek to wipe away the grainy sand that stung her skin. She felt sick and dizzy, as if she'd just been clocked over the head several times, but without the throbbing pain or bruises. One eye opened halfway, then the other, and there was a ruined city just sitting there in front of her.

...But that wasn't quite right, was it? Again she blinked, and a third time, harder, but the tattered gray city stayed exactly where it was. Her head tipped back to study the sky, her brow knitting, lips pursed tightly together. How did she wind up out here? It wasn't a dream, of that much she was absolutely certain. As weird as this place was, her dreams were much much weirder. Besides, it just felt too real.

Gingerly she pushed a hand against her knee to rise, and as she did, something tumbled out of her lap and bounced off of the rubble that had formerly served her as the worst pillow ever. A radio...? Squatting down on her heels, she reached out to pick up the machine and turn it over in her hands. It resembled a walkie-talkie. She'd never owned a toy like that as a child, but she knew what they generally looked like. But why was it on her lap?

Her thumb moved to the red button on the side to test it out...but she hesitated. There was something inherently creepy about this place, something that tickled uncomfortably at her spiritual senses. She didn't know what it was, but it didn't seem like a smart idea to start broadcasting her voice without any knowledge of who or what would be waiting on the other line. Maybe it was best just to keep it for a little while, and see if it picked up any other transmissions.

The city was quiet, but she could feel the life signs of a few people. Not enough to populate a small town like Karakura, but it was reassuring to know she wasn't completely alone. Perhaps some of those people had been unceremoniously dumped here too! Not bothering to wipe the dust from her flowery skirt, Orihime picked her way out of the rubble nest and down the street, her head turning left and right as she clutched her radio protectively to her chest. It was best to stay alert, at least until she had a better idea of what was going on.
