[It's not abnormal for Kanda to be out and about this early. He always was, he just had to be careful about it the past several months, since he started living with Alma. He didn't want to wake him up unnecessarily. He had made sure to leave his PDA at home, this time, in order to avoid the mishap that had happened the last time he ventured out this early.

He loved it when it was quiet out, when everyone was still asleep. He loved how the forest always felt first thing in the morning, even if this wasn't the forest he walked into every morning for training. He'd been slacking somewhat, over the months, and he was starting to get back into his routine. But he decided to wait a little longer, to enjoy the weather a bit more.

It was nice and cool out this morning.

Kanda opened his eyes - when he had closed him to enjoy the morning, he couldn't care to recall - when he sensed someone else in the forest, silently getting to his feet as his hand reached for Mugen. He was quiet, still, and just listened and waited.]

[the sound of faint movement has him stalling, fingertips against the hilt at his side. animal? or human? the former would be nice. but as for the latter--

..well. company's a mixed bag of feelings.

he takes a few careful steps forward, eyes and ears straining for any slightest sound or hint of life.]

[It's funny how it's something they're both doing. Can't really expect to get anywhere like this, right? They'd be left at a complete standstill, if they did the exact same things.

Kanda kept his breathing shallow and light, a fingers on the hilt of his sword giving just the slightest muscle twitch.

He waited for a moment, then two, until finally he decided to speak, though still remained ever so cautious.] ...Who's there?

[well considering they're.. technically the same person-- not all to surprising.

'llujah pulls an inch of the blade from its sheath, stopping only at the sound of. his own voice?

..at least he knows who it is now. in that case.

angles himself in the direction of that voice, taking a step out from the behind tree, and--

--charges, sword flashing in a downward arc.]

[His body tenses when he feels something approaching him, withdrawing Mugen quickly and activating it without a second thought. He turns, then, toward his attacker, and brings the blade up to block the upcoming strike.

He stops, then, when he sees who his attacker is.

...Himself.

He can't help but smirk a little at that.]

Morning to you too, Kanda.

[well, it's comforting enough to know his other self is as on guard as always.

he makes a sound halfway between a laugh and a snort, a half smirk, and eases up on the sword to put it back in its sheath.]

Didn't interrupt anything, did I?

[Taking a slight step back, doing the same.]

Just the usual morning routine.

[slight tilt of his head in acknowledgement.]

[In the middle of sitting back down in his spot, glancing at Kanda curiously. He didn't. really expect to hear that, to be honest. It's a bit of a surprise.

Have a shrug.] I won't stop you.

Not like you could, anyway.

[yes, well, walking off to find his own meditation spot sounds a bit stupid. he'll take a seat somewhere behind Kanda, facing the other direction., sword laying across his thighs.]

[Just gives a snort at that, going back to meditating, setting Mugen down next to him.]

Don't underestimate me.

I wouldn't underestimate myself.

['llujah'd love to meditate, but as it is all he's doing is sitting down with his eyes closed. even discipline gets trumped by sore arms and raging headache.]

Good.

[Because that would be stupid. Though he isn't sure what this Kanda is capable of :|a But he knows not to get on his bad side. He wouldn't want to get on his bad side.]

[he's well aware of what he's capable of-- or rather, what he used to be capable of.

[Opens his eyes slightly, but doesn't look back at his double. He just stares down at the ground in front of his crossed legs.]

... It'll be a year in a month.
