"Everything in Nesreca is in a foreign language, if you haven't gathered by the signs by now." Sasuke leaned against the door frame, just as he had when he first met Sakura here. He had his arms folded over his chest, wearing his cloak this time instead of draping it over an arm.

She was a bit shocked to see him here, but she let it go. Putting her guard up would be useless... if he wanted to kill her Sasuke could and would. Right now she might as well talk to him.

...wait. He knew they were in a different language? That's right, he had a notebook the last time they had been here. Did you know anything about it then?

"Can you understand this language? I understand some terms that are latin based, like medical terms, but the rest is just..."

"Russian is the native language here." Sasuke watched her with a blank expression before glancing down at the book she was holding. Nope, he hadn't attempted to go through that one yet.

"I'm learning, but it isn't enough." Even though he has more than enough time to learn a new language, now. But just because he had the time didn't mean he didn't want to spend all of it doing so.

She bit her lip for a minute before flipping a few pages and replying.

"Can you teach me what you know? I could try and help... latin is the base of a lot of languages and as a medic nin I know quite a bit of it. Russian, I'm not sure what the base of it is, but it has to have some form of latin in it." Was she talking too much? Damn, she never knew when to shut her mouth.

"You want to learn, start teaching yourself." Sasuke pushed himself off of the door frame and made his way toward his usual self, taking out a book and flipping it out.

That was pretty much a cold shoulder, Sakura.

Sakura recoiled a bit for the brush off, but didn't expect much else to begin with. The fact they were cohabiting a room and she was alive was enough for her.

"Fine. I'll just do everything myself. You wouldn't have been much help anyways." Sakura grabbed several books from the shelf and found a table to sit at. She would figure out how to read the language somehow. Without Sasuke. She didn't need anybody, and the more she tried to believe that the more she might make it true.

Sasuke gave a snort as he activated his Sharingan, glancing through and skimming the book to memorize it. Then, he could easily make himself a copy once he got back to his apartment and work on translating it. If Sakura was going to frequent here, he didn't want to spend more time than necessary around her.

Sakura watched what he did and couldn't hide the jealousy. If she could do something like that, she could learn so much! Sakura was great at memorizing things, but that was just cheating.

"Look, Sasuke can we just drop all of it? Can we just reset this all and at least be civil to each other? I did some thinking and I understand why you are doing what you're doing. But can't we just try and be... friends again?" Friends wasn't exactly what she would call what was between them. She didn't really have a name for it or knew how to express it. But she wanted things to go back to the way they were... at least a little.

Crimson eyes narrowed before the book was slammed shut. Sasuke glanced over, not bothering to deactivate his eyes. She understood him? No one understood him. Itachi was the only one that did, having lived through it and been the center of it. But no one else did.

"You don't understand a damned thing. Don't try and turn anything into the past. The past is dead. So is that Sasuke." His voice was cold, hard, and venomous. His eyes said "Bring it up again and I won't let you live on my whim."

She didn't flinch. Perhaps being in this position so many times before with him had made her immune to fearing him. Well, that was a lie, she did fear him. But if he wanted it over, he would do it. Somehow death didn't seem so real to her in this place.

"You don't think I understand? Fill me in." Her voice picked up boldness as she spoke. She wouldn't back down again. "And you think I'm naive enough to think you're the same as before? You've changed by the events, but you forget so have I." So much for trying not to get hurt.

"I didn't change because of a senseless event. I merely remembered my goals because of a senseless event." With that, Sasuke made a move to leave, his cloak rustling behind him. Really, Sakura, you just try too hard. It's going to get you killed one day.

Sakura watched Sasuke's back as he began to leave and realized that she still was so far behind him. Letting him walk all over her, letting him talk down to her... that had to stop.

"No, you stay. I'll go." Sakura stood and moved to leave. As she got near the door she stopped to speak over her shoulder; "You changed because you felt you had to, not because of a lack of choices. Maybe someday you'll realize what it's really like being all alone and having no one care for you."

Before Sakura could finish her sentence, Sasuke had thrown a kunai charged with chidori, just narrowly missing her face.

"I won't miss next time."

Sakura was shocked for a second and had to catch her breath before she simply replied, though her voice shook a bit.

"So why did you now? Just do it already." With that she stepped out the door. It wasn't until it shut behind her that her whole body shook and tears ebbed at her eyes. But she wouldn't cry with him just inside the door. She would go somewhere and be alone.
