Author's Notes: for
lost_little_nat as a thank you for her recent Wither fics, and an oblique incentive to write more of them! And... um... wrote this in about 3/4 an hour or so, so if some phrases are awkward, or overused, yeah. I know. And I'm too lazy to fix them.
Cessily knitted. Not that anyone really knew. She only pulled out her needles in her room, when she was feeling stressed. The soft click of aluminum went a long way towards soothing her nerves.
She'd learned to knit from a lady back home. There was this free class at the big chain craft store, and she was pretty much the only student in the class under fifty. The others helped her to learn the basics, and she picked up the rest from books, later. Sometimes Cessily toyed with the idea of taking more classes here, but the girl in the mirror always made her stay on campus.
She ordered her yarn online. Not from any of those floofy sites where she wasn't sure what the yarn actually was, or when it would arrive, but from a good solid website that sold good solid acrylic yarn.
Each sweater she knit was a little too dark, a little too baggy, a little too masculine for her tastes. So she'd sew her label in them and donate them to the local charity, and start a new sweater, in black this time. And she'd picture a cold, tired, brown-haired boy picking up a sweater that caught his artist's eye. He'd run his gloved hands across the neckline, and find her tag.
