Thought I made this clear before...
At some point you're going to say/write/post something I think is off center. Chances are, I will call you on this. Is it some indication that I think you're an imbecile? No. I just think what you said/wrote/posted is off-center. But, if you're going to get your panties in a wad about it, be my guest.
As for the rest of it, my opinion (keyword in this whole matter) is that there was a much bigger issue than what was being said, so I said as much. If your response is to think I'm somehow insulting your intelligence, that's your issue. I'm not going to apologize about something that wasn't a personal attack on you. Part of interacting with me (be it as co-worker, aquaintance, friend, lover, etc) means dealing with the fact that at some point I'm not going to agree with you and it won't be pretty when I express it. Now, if it IS a personal attack, chances are you at some point did something to warrant it. If I consider you important enough, I'll pull you aside and talk about it. If I only consider you as something of an aquaintance, I'll feel a bit of remorse over the fact that my circle has gotten smaller, but in the overall scheme of things, you're an aquaintance for a reason.
PS> This especially goes out to the person(s) who is (rumored) to be whiny over the fact that I asked that people please stop getting touchy--feely with my boyfriend. Learn some fucking tact and grow the fuck up already.
