[ 2017.04.20 ] Hashimoto "Whether it's good or bad, it's still one's own responsibility. "
"At first, Director Seta told me "I want to film Hashimoto-san that is close to herself" . Up until now I have had many serious roles, so it was fresh when I was told that they wanted to film the softer side. Because I am messy (laughs), it was interesting to show that lighter part of such me. "
Since Amachan, we could see Hashimoto Ai-san in countless of films and dramas as a national actress. But this work may be the first time we'll see her in off mode.
Her latest starring film entitled PARKS ( Director Seta Natsuki ) was staged at the Inokashira Park of Kichioji, displaying a youthful image. Through the University student Jun ( Hashimoto Ai) , High School Girl Haru ( Nagano Mei ), and the local Tokio ( Sometani Shota )'s fateful encounter, the memories of some lover from the 60's will be explored through the fragments of a love song that was left behind.
"I didn't consult with Mei-chan and Someya-kun even once (laughs). I entered the site and took out each lines with the natural atmosphere at the set, I moved along purely on the spot. Because it was a site where we were allowed to say silly lines by adlib, there was freedom.
Beside Mei-chan who has a pure and lively presence, I hold something that is not refreshing but there's optimism somewhere. If the girl is bright on the surface but her inner is filled with shade, then my role is the one who seems to be dark at first glance but has a playful and bright side too . That sort of contradicting relationship was interesting. "
Hashimoto-san, who showed off her singing with an acoustic guitar, have such memories in the Park.
"I think that the Park is a calm place. Many people intersects, children are small and lonely, and there is an overwhelming happy aura among lovers. It has an image that anyone is allowed to do anything, isn't it? I don't know what was I thinking back then but during High School, the me who loved singing went to the park with a guitar and played. I didn't sing for anyone. A couple was watching one time and they told me, "You should play this way". This time, I touched the guitar for the first time after a year, it was fun after all. "
The challenge that the protagonist faced before the stage at the Music Festival overlapped with Hashimoto-san's own conflict.
"The situation where the fear of being unable to recognize your own wins over the pleasure of making something was very real. I have my own trauma just as Jun has her own. What was I supposed to do to win this? I already knew the means to do so. Artists have to fight with their own bodies alone. I also have that earnestness in me. Whether it is good or bad, it is still my own responsibility. "
