Law is hard. My head hurts. Lot of books. Words starting to do that thing where they go all blurry and merge into each other.

I was trying to find out what Rule of Law is, as a concept, but so far everyone just says that it's too difficult to define. (By everybody, I mean the authors of the books I'm reading, but I think of them as real people because I picture them in my head as ooold academics writing with quills and sifting through books falling apart at the spine. I mean the books are falling apart at the spine. The academics are old but in full health.) None of them seem to care about deciding what the law actually is. They all just seem to care about what Dicey says. So I read Dicey, who turned out to just be a guy with bad ideas. So they all write for chapters and chapters about how rubbish Dicey is. And everyone, espcially P Craig, is like 'And how stupid is Dicey, because the Rule of Law soooo isn't that.' But everyone's too scared to say what they think it is, because they know everyone else will bitch about them and write condescending books about how it isn't that either.

And my essay is about how far the Rule of Law acts as a restraint on government, so it'd be useful to know what it is first. I wonder what they'd do if they had to define 'restraint on government'. They probably would fall apart.

Just understood what P Craig is saying! He's basically saying that morals are no concern of the law! Yaaaay! ...wait. That's terrible! Bloooody hell. I might go and find some chocolate.
