Deftones, Dir en grey, and Fall of Troy tour review by Kyos_Sleazoid
Veijas concerts in the park
To get ready for the show I originally wore a black and army green one piece that ended at my thighs…But after arriving at Jennifer's(Dr. Usagi) house at I believe was two or three, I changed my mind. She had bought the cutest sailor outfit and I was so going to wear it! I felt bad that she'd never wore it before but I really didn't feel guilty till later when the excitement had worn off. The sailor suite was black and white and I wore black and white stripped socks to match. I went more a more punkish look by wearing my plat- formed Harley Davidson boots. After I was dressed we later went to pick up Jorge (Taku54) and Charleet (Evil_mochi). We stopped at Micky D's to eat where Charleet ranted on about her most recent dreams which were full of naked Diru dancing…She says Totchi has a small penis…. We came back to Jenn's and her mom straightened my hair. I put in pink extensions for flare and they didn't look half bad. I put on makeup and as soon as my friend finished drawing Kyo name on my nurse face mask we had to leave. We piled in Mexican style with one practically on top of the other. Eventually Charleet moved on to Jorge's lap to make room. Though it is a bit of a distance the ride was quick. We pulled right up to the front and jumped out. I remember there was this crazy hair Asian in the front (you had nice hair dude).
Just before we went inside Charleet reminded us that she doesn't have a ticket yet. The rock 10.53 booth was right next to us so I told her to ask him where the box office was…(because we didn't see it when we walked up). He started to point to the right but then stopped and said, "Wait, Deftones?"
Charleet said yeah and he pulled a ticket out of his pocket. He handed it to her and just stared. He had a bit of a sly smile on his face so I could tell he had just given it to her. She was speechless for a couple seconds then asked if it was free. I don't remember his words but he said they were and cute mocha got all fluttered up. She told him he was so nice but he just seemed to not care all that much. We got to the front and we where there was a half assed search….they didn't even take my camera which was in plain sight!
We got inside and I just went for the stage. It was a little more then an hour before the show and the group in front of the stage was weak. I wanted to claim a spot fast so I lead my friends there and we just stood around. We stared discussion searching for our friend Marc who was supposed to already be there. My idea of searching was just standing there and yelling his name but that got boring…None of really made an effort to find him. In all probability he would most likely find us, is what we assumed. Charleet mentioned if we should buy merch now because it all went so fast at the Inward scream tour but I just said…"I don't want to hold it." I love stuff but the only thing that was on my mind was seeing the show. I looked around and I realized I was so close to the stage! I knew I was gonna get a great view of Kyo.
Fall of Troy came on and I only bothered to take two pictures of them then put my camera back down the front of my dress. I liked the first song they played, whatever it was. Halfway through I turned around and gestured to Jorge a thumbs up and thumbs down. I wanted his opinion and he seemed to say they were an okay show. I agreed though I don't intend to listen to them again. Near the end of their set a mosh of Troy fans started. They went strong for a good few minutes but they eventually knocked the tar out of each other and stopped.
While standing there I had befriended the girl next to me. She was a Kyo fan it seemed to me and I liked her charisma. Charleet and she apologized in advanced to each other for their shrieky yells. She warned us about her crazy head banging and I told her mine is just strange. When fall of troy ended we talked about how we could smell "Asian" in the air. I could have sworn I heard the girl next to me say "I smell Kyo ass." And I felt kinda happy I wasn't alone…..HAHAHA!!!
The roadies came out and I still think they are ugly. But one had a MAD STALIN shirt and that made me smile. They let down the "Dir en grey" background very slowly, untying each knot at a time. People waited and finally the last one was loosened. The whole crowd yelled, shrieked, and shouted obstinacies of pure love. Still they made us wait a few more minutes and when GDS finally started playing I got a little nervous jump in my tummy. I was ready for it this time and I was able to keep up with the chant. I only missed it once this time! I turned to the girl next to me and voiced how I thought we looked like a cult….shouting "kill kill kill kill kill" She agreed and laughed.
They all came out rather enthusiastically, save Kyo and Shinya. Kyo got a standing ovation for just being himself. He walked on stage and gestured at the crowd. He bent down to get his mic and played with his hair one last time. I am fully prepared to go on for days about just Kyo. His energy at this show was stronger than Inward Scream by a mile. He was enjoying himself I could tell and so was the rest of the band. I suppose it's easier when you're with two other bands. Enthusiasm is contagious.
When Kyo came on stage it got hard to breath for some reason but as the music got harder I got lost in the intimacy of the song. He started doing a dance at one point and I must admit I got a little too happy. It easy for me to say that I am now more emotionally and, dare I say it, sexually attracted to him then I was before. Yeah…I saw that dot of him at inward scream that proved he wasn't just a sound. But being close enough to see the sweat in his face and the whites of his eyes….lets me know he a completely real and everything more then I could have envisioned. I believe the more I see him the worse it's gonna get. And I didn't think it could get any worse.
I don't remember the list in order but I remember most of the songs. There was Ryoujoku no ame, Deeper vileness, The final, IIID empire, Saku, Dead Tree…all the good ones. Saku and IIID Empire were my favorite to hear. They are one hell of a good time. But the lack of Obscure was very disheartening.
Kaoru threw a few picks and Toshiya Jumped into the crowd just to the right of me. I had no clue he was there until people started shoving in that direction. He was pulled out then hoisted back on stage by his roadies. He picked up his mic and yelled into while it was upside down. Kyo's acappella was not as long nor as heartfelt as his last but I enjoyed it all the same. He sure does have a voice.
The show ended and they just walked off. As simple as that. How easy they walked away made me sad and the crowd did not ask for more this time unfortunately but the whole show was entirely more rewarding then the last one. Before I knew what was going on a drum stick fell to the ground next to me. The assholes on my left shoved me for no real reason except to make room for them selves. I fell very slowly but I eventually hit the ground. My new friend on my right dived for the stick but was kick out of the way. I saw the pain on her face and felt scared for her. I helped her up and stroked her head, hoping she was badly hurt. Her male friend turned around and asked what was going on and I said "she needs to go." Her two friends help her out and I went looking for my own friends. As soon as the drum stick fell I lost them.
For five or more minutes I searched for them. I went one more time to the merch line and as I walked by Die's head caught my eye. I looked and found Totchi there to. I realized the line was for the meet and greet that I heard about. As I started to look up and down the line Charleet shouted my name. Long story short I got my ticket signed my Toshiya and Die because that was all I had. Does anyone else think Die has soft hands but rough finger tips? Hmmm….I wonder why? Hahaha. I then bought the green Marrow of a Bone shirt and a wrist band. Jennifer got back in line to get her CD signed then came back. By this time my friends had found Marc and he was telling me about how he went back stage and had dinner with the roadies. We realized we had lost Jorge….
But at the moment I mentioned to Jenn that she had gotten back in line just in time because Die and Toshiya where leaving now. We were standing in front of the exit and Die and Toshiya walked right past us. I said, "Lets fallow." But when I looked they were already gone!!! DAMN THEY ARE FAST!
Later we sat outside and squealed like fangirls do until Jenn's mom came to get us.
Overall, It was a jolly good show and my fingers where twitching and mouth was salivating more than a little girl at a candy store window. Lets doing again some time old chaps!
