Denshaotoko, Ni Channel, and my art (<--irrelevant!!)

I was watching a japanese TV drama called "Denshaotoko" (=Train Man, a literal translation). It's basically about a geek falling in love with a beautiful rich woman....and he tries to change himself into a more confident man with the help of his internet buddies.

It's a cute show. I enjoy the story itself, but apparently, my parents are more amused by the new face of Japanese society--the face that is greatly influenced by the internet. They say that they can't believe how a man can call people whom he never met in real life, but only talk online, "friends". haha...

Well..."Denshaotoko" (the main character's alias)'s internet conversations take olace on Channel 2 (Ni-channel), which is a very unique-to-Japan and extremly popular internet community/bulletin board (people can post things anonymously, and the users don't need to log in or sign up for membership in order to do so). People can talk whatever they want to talk about. The topics range from recipe for dinner to finding underground infromation.

I've been to Channel 2 bulltein boards a couple of times before in order to do a research on them for school project, but man, did I feel so out of place--that place is filled with symbols and words that make no sense in real life. These things make sense only to the users. So, new languages and new sense of close 'bonds'/relationship between people develope from sites like Channel 2....but also some crimes(sexual ones, violent ones, teen ones, bizzare ones) as well.  Sadly.

The story of Denshaotoko was actually originated in one of Channel 2's bulletin boards, and to this day, no one really knows who wrote this story. More likely, many different users posted line by line anonymously to create this extremly innocent romantic story. Then, some screen-writer decided to take these posts and create a movie, book, and now a TV drama.

When my parents learned of this, they couldn't believe what I told them. Infact, they left me at the end of the show with a comment, "Japan's becoming a weird country".

Anyways.

I've done more doodling (on the net---on my own bulletin board. lol), so I'll post two of my recent ones here.

Sunset, Alone. ...Yeah.... It's Takasugi again.  What can I say, I like Takasugi.

Blue. ...Shift in drawing style.
Not anime/manga/book related.

Oookay.  That's it for now.
