One of my biggest surprises upon coming to America (an old story!),
was the vivid colors of kid's birthday cakes. They were in electric blue, bright neon pink, green, purple...
I thought they looked outrageous. I doubted they even taste good.
(I was half right about the latter idea--most of the times those cakes just taste sugary..)
But now, whenever i see celebration cakes in asian bakeries, they seem too simple, too plain.
...i was vaguely thinking about things like that as I drew this.
