Where does Bowie get those fabulous pants?

Jen and I went shopping for the Black and Blue Ball yesterday. The day before we ordered the main pieces for our outfits (Jen's dress, which will have a blue overdress, and my coat and shirt which will have a matching blue cravat) and so we went looking for completion pieces.

Jen picked up some very cute shoes. A somewhat witchy looking heel with punching around the heel and toe like an oxford and thin, tassled laces. They're super cute in a funky old fashioned way.

I managed to find some contemporary, English riding style boots with six stiched panels and a stiched heel. They've got a cute little square ring at the ankle and at Jen's request I'll embelish them with some brushed silver buttons at the knee.

I was most excited to find the one piece I was afraid would be too difficult to find: my pants. I wanted some trousers that were super tight like riding pants, but without the patches on the butt and inner thighs. Something like the loveley flat front pants that David Bowie wears in Labyrinth, but minus the codpiece.

Jen was clever enough to suggest dance leggings, and we found the perfect pair in a nice ash gray, but they didn't have my size. We went back later to see when they'd be getting more sizes and found out they had some shipment that hadn't been put out yet. Score. They fit great and they have just the look I wanted. The only bad part was realizing that I have to wear a thong with them. Ew.

Left to find is a Victorian top hat, hopefully in a gray that matches the leggings.  We've also got some items left to make. I'll be making Jen a tiny Lolita hat to tie on. I'll probably be using a bear or doll hat as the base. And of course, it will be black and blue. Veilette? We don't know yet.

Jen also wants to make a corsage/buttoneire set with silk lilies. We'll see if we have time for it.

And lastly we need to swing by the Civic and see about renting some capes. It's gonna be cold, yo.
