Oh my god. They almost didn't let me back into Canada.
So I did something really stupid and forgot to bring my study permit when crossing the border since they gave me a separate sheet instead of putting it in my passport (yes I've stapled it in now.) This wasn't a problem for the other kid who did the same thing - they looked it up on the database and just told him to not forget it again.
But when they searched for mine in the database, nothing came up. Why did nothing come up?
Apparently the guy was searching by name and gender. The day I applied for my study permit, the person making it for me assumed I was male. Thus my study permit says that I'm male, but my passport says that I'm female. So, putting "female" and my name it yielded nothing. Naturally, he assumed I was lying about the study permit and was ready to send me back to the US after searching for some common misspellings of my name. I thought maybe they hadn't put me in the database because I didn't have my CAQ (some other document) at the time I applied for the study permit, but then it occurred to me that the guy might not have been searching with the most general of terms, and my study permit and passport had mismatching genders.
I asked him if the mismatching genders would have caused a problem in the search. He doubted me, but went to search anyways while sending me off in final attempt to have someone fax a copy of the permit in. Then when I was about to call someone in my residence to do this, one of the border police came running out saying they found it.
I received applause as I got back on the bus, and they passed back all the money they collected so this kid on the team and I could stay overnight in the US =_=`. Ahh . . .
Then we had conversations about lunch porn on the bus. It concerns me that that was the only time I've been talkative with my team.
Besides that, the world cup was awesome!!!
Most of the team left for Middlebury on Saturday - I left with the rest on Sunday morning, bright (or dark) and early at 5:30 AM. We got there right in time for the parade of teams onto the fields because we were stopped at the border with one of our fans who is Dutch and slightly dark skinned.
We won our first game by a lot - they got the snitch and we still won. Our second game was against UVM and we lost because they got the snitch, however we beat them the second time when we got the snitch. We won our other game also (I forget who we played this time.) McGill and Ives Pond are friends so we cheered for each other - we also made friends with Pittsburg and cheered for each other.
We came in 5th! We made it to play Middlebury! And put up a pretty good fight against them (their chasers are beastly.)
It was really exciting and I wanted to win. I never want to win. I wanted to win!
I was yelling when I was on the sidelines. One of our seekers won us two of our games and we piled on him at the end both of the times.
The fields were nice and muddy and we all had our capes! With our nicknames! I'm not sure how many times we sang "O Canada" but I think I know the lyrics now. We were the cool exotic international team and we were the ones who made it a world cup.
We scrimmaged LSU and Vassar after we were out and had one team announcing each time. Ah and there were a lot of jokes about people's moms ^^`. Oh man.
Vassar invited us to a tournament in November so we might be going to that.
OK I'm pretty sure this 'cellist in Savoy orchestra is only there so he can hook up with all of the cast. This is also the guy who plays viola da gamba and baroque 'cello and is in all the awesome intense music classes that I wish I was in. And the guy who apparently went to a furry con (presumably also to hook up with people.) Ahahaha. He has an awesome name but I think I'll call him Sahime. Yeah he's an interesting person, and a really good musician. Somehow, the rest of our 'cello section kinda sucks :/.
So for some reason I've been having a gaida craving for the last few weeks. All I want to listen to is the gaida. I need more gaida music but it's difficult to search for.
Ah I really need some gaida music!
Actually, this reminds me. I'm primarily auditory/musical, according to that genres of intelligence system. This may explain why I like and dislike words based on whether or not they sound like what they mean, and also possibly why I had a hard time with composition in English because of this. I look at it from a completely different perspective.
On a related topic, I dislike screaming in music - literally, when I listen to it, I get a sore throat. This is a purely mental reaction - nothing is actually wrong with my throat. I think this has to do with how I listen to music. I am a musician, and I tend to analyze the music and mentally practice it. I possibly activate those so-called mirror neurons and experience what I know makes a similar noise - a sore, mucous-filled throat.
Or, this is something closer to synesthesia, and I experience the sore throat because I associate the timbre with that feeling.
