When Tiresias was a young man, he came upon two snakes coupling in the dirt. He struck them apart with a stick, whereupon he was changed into a woman. Seven years later he came upon two snakes coupling, and again he struck them apart, whereupon he was changed back into a man. Hera, Queen of the Gods, then descended from her throne and pose him this question: which sex has the greater pleasure in love?
