Cordelia sat at her desk, staring out the window. It had been six months since that fateful night and they had been pretending that it had never happened. Faith had been dropping hints sporadically, but since she and Spike didn’t respond to them, even Faith had given up.
The idea was still fascinating, to be able to have them both. Over the past months, she and Spike had spent many nights talking, and they’d grown very fond of each other.
Cordelia had never understood before why Faith and Spike had been so close, but now it made perfect sense. He wasn’t half as brainless as he pretended to be. She smiled to herself; she knew how much he’d be offended if she told him that.
Spike had been silent, almost recluse, and besides his lengthily conversations with her, nobody else seemed to be able to get him to speak. Faith was absolutely shattered that her best friend had backed off so suddenly. But then, she also knew why and tried very hard to give them both the time and space they needed.
When Faith made love to her, it was sweeter than ever, leaving her gasping for air when she finally backed away. Cordelia felt closer to her lover now than she ever did before.
She sighed and got up from her chair. She stretched her painful muscles and took off, resolved to get Spike to see reason.

She found him exercising in the courtyard, the UV light filtered out by the glass roofing overhead. “You shouldn’t punch those bags so hard, they might break!”
Spike turned to face her. “And you shouldn’t scare someone while they’re at it. They might punch you for it.” He smiled gently. “What can I help you with, pretty lady?”
“You could talk to Faith.”
His face turned serious again. “I don’t know if I can do that, Cordelia. I mean, she lied to both of us. She knew what would happen and she didn’t even mention it. She talks about love, but…”
He lifted his hands, helplessly. “I just feel like I’m being controlled by something other than m’self. And I don’t like it.”
“So you leave your best friend miserable and me aching? That’s not really a solution to the problem, is it?”
She stepped up closer to him. “What she suggested, wasn’t such a bad idea, you know.” She trailed the lines of his bare chest. “The more I think about it, the more I think it could work. We know each other so well, the three of us, and she’s already admitted to loving the both of us.” She looked up with a piercing gaze. “Now all you have to do is admit it, too.” Cordelia headed towards the door. “I have.”
Spike just stared at her walking away, the punching bags still swinging behind him.
