I was going to be leaving early for a few days from being with my family in New York, but wound up spending an extra day. My cousin needed me to do some art work for me. He's joining a fraternity, and needed someone to sketch his pledge book and paint a pledge paddle for him. From what I understand, the new pledges have to create these paddles as gifts to the older pledges. Sometimes the younger pledges have advice on the design from the older pledge they will be gifting, sometimes it's a surprise. This case was a surprise. It was due the next day at noon. I sat up all night listening to bhangra, bollywood, rock, and kirtans, and painted the paddle for him. (See the blog post pictures). I did NOT spraypaint the background, and the base white for the cards was done for me, but i did the rest of it. My cousin even assisted me...i wasn't used to having an assistant squirting your paint into the pallete for you and such, but it was very nice! (he also got me ras malai after I was done, which i was doubly grateful for!) I don't have pictures for the sketches i had done, as i hadn't thought at the time to take a snap, but i do have the paddle pic. I like playing cards, so that part was cool. i really enjoy helping others using my art  talents.  I have to confess that i can't stand spongebob, but because my cousin requested it, i did it for him. he was very grateful. Also, up until now, i have always felt as though he had some hostility for me. I hope this has helped to end that feeling, and hat we can be good friends as well as family!
