A very desi day!

Today was the first meeting for our college's Desi group. I attended, as did others, including our token keshdhari, Kulvir the cutie. I'll shut up about that. lol. Also, my buddy Sachin the baldy who works at the 7 11 near where i do our laundry (he's hilarious, and very cool.) was there. Anyway, i'm really excited about this, because we plan to inject the Halloween party with Desi sounds. Now, that makes me think.....do i wear my sexy ringmaster outfit, or do i wear my bhangra outfit again? I lost my little pompoms last year, and finally found them. Well, i'll save that thought for another time. We are also planning Diwali dancing and other goodies. Some of us want to start a bhangra team, and alot of us are itching to dance. We also are plannning a Desi fashion show. Our president is a very dedicated and has alot of great ideas. She also has alot of spirit. It was a short first meeting, but seems cool. In a way, im glad, i'm the only mix race there, the rest were pure desi...except for my mum who had to get herself in, and one other guy who helped start it. The guy doesn't seem too wacky, so it's cool. Also, they needed a webmaster for the group website (i'll post it later), and no one else volunteered, so i volunteered. I got the job. I feel so happy helping to preserve our culture locally. Maybe i can make this work on a larger scale in time.
I did see another punjabi there...his name is karanveer. he praises the 3ho goris and claims they are better then punjabi sikhs, but he's quite a fool. he can talk pretty and act like he knows about sikhism, but he doesn't even keep joora. So talk is cheap, and some of us are more knowledgable about these people...as i said, i don't claim to be the purest sikh, and i don't wish to. But i sure don't need others who have no place to say try to convince me that a cult is anything other than a cult! what those people do is nothing more thn an act, and that is NOT sikhsim. those of us who are more intelligent about such matters, like some of my friends and family, know better. I will listen to them, not foolishness, and i will learn from them, and from the fools - not to be fake like them, because an act is an act only, and you can pretend to be as pure as you want and bullshit everyone, includng yourself, and only make matters worse for all. i'd rathr live with being imperfect, and being honest about it.

I think I may watch a movie this afternoon. grey had suggested i watch om shanti om, hat the hell, i just might! And maybe i'll break out the ras malai, create a new work of art, and celebrate this very desi day!
