Take That, Idiot

I just took a grown man to task about his woefully inaccurate legal opinion! Not only was he wrong, he tried to convince us otherwise with a statement from a lawyer based on faulty premises; A contract is not rendered null and void because your misinformed lawyer friend believes it 'might be faulty'. Adding insult to injury, he believed that the home owners as a group could not commit to a contract. How else does he believe we hired a carpenter to improve our back yard? I could barely keep myself from shaking my head and tsking at him. Instead I told him he was wrong, and gave him a short lecture on interpreting contracts.

I love my education. And I love having the authority to say 'No, you are wrong. And this is why.' I feel so badass, a smug Harvey gif is only appropriate: Click for Smug Harvey, I look more or less like this at the moment.

The backstory:
My flat is part of the Norwegian equivalent of a condominium, and we have an approximation of a homeowner association, where I am a member (three elected members). The owners elect a board (homeowner association), and we take run the common property day to day. We are currently negotiating a contract with our broadband and internet supplier, about expanding our communal contract to encompass broadband. One of the members thinks we are incapable of committing the homeowners to such a contract. He is very wrong. I told him so.

take that, suits, law school, bamf
