cool things i have purchased recently....

a magical tote bag that folds into a small zippered heart! it is hot pink with batik swirly hearts on it. it lives in my car and was very useful today because i forgot to bring a purse with me and felt stupid carrying my keys and checkbook around in my hand. plus i could tote my purchases! although the majority of clerks apparently cannot understand the phrase "I won't need a bag".

i bought it at the co-op but here is the site, it's the zipsack design in the pink heart print that is 5th down in the right hand column. the site also has drawstring bags for wrapping gifts in, but, um, those would be really easy to make yourself.

then i went to this site http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=4894 and bought the pound of soap. it's a FABULOUS deal and the soap is AWESOME! very good quality; moisturizing, fragrant -- it's even gentle enough that i can use it on my face (and my skin looks fabulous). i will def. buy more from this vender. i got a whole bunch of odds and ends -- the honey soap and the almond oatmeal are my favorites, but the peppermint also rocks and the creamsicle is growing on me. i wasn't so excited by the lemon verbena but eb liked it enough to steal it!
and i also bought some valerian root capsules at the grocery store -- i bought them to help me sleep but i noticed that since i started taking them i overall feel more relaxed and less cranky. then again, it might be because i'm actually sleeping through the night for once.
i also have bought some extremely cute new clothes! a swishy skirt with wooden beads, a black top with embroidery and sequins that magically makes me look busty, and some espadrilles and a cute tunic to wear to the beach that were like 90% off at old navy. incidentally, going into old navy on a day when everything is 50% off, even the already discounted stuff, is a lot like entering a war zone. we walked in and clothes were flung around EVERYWHERE! Tulio said "it looks like a hurricane hit!" and this girl literally shoved me out of the way while I was looking at cheap pajama pants.
incidentally, almost everything at old navy is made in honduras, so odds are decent that someone we know made them.
also, I am so sick of the rampant misuse of the word "literally". in an article about the shootings in indiana, a police spokesperson said something along the lines of "we are literally scouring miles of highway", which, first, created a lovely mental image of police officers on their hands and knees with scrub brushes, but second, really pissed me off because i read the article with the intermediate 1 esl class, and they first wanted to know what "literally" and "scouring" meant, and then wanted to know what they were doing together in a sentence, which, literally speaking, made no sense.
ooh, i bought some shea butter too. it's good stuff.
