If there is ever a contest for "most whimsical town in the Southeast", I'm pretty sure that Durham would win.
For example, what do you do in Durham with a trash-strewn, poison-ivy infested vacant lot? You clean up the trash, get your landscaper neighbor to eradicate the poison ivy, and you create:
